12 oz. can from my Secret Santa. Thanks man! This one pours and orangish amber with a medium white head. Aroma of medium ginger, pale malt, herbal hop notes. It kind of smells like a sushi place to be honest. Flavor is crisp, zippy. The ginger is clean and balances well with the hoppy pale ale notes. Pretty nice. Medium bodied. Crisp, and the ginger adds a refreshing palate cleansing sensation. Admittedly, I am not a ginger lover, but this is one of -- if not the best -- beers I’ve had at using ginger.

Bottle @ Three Notch’d Tasting. Gold with a small head. Nose is pretty bready. Some anise, fennel, herbs. Taste is similar. Licorice and anise with a bready body, light harvest fruits. Medium body, moderate carbonation. Meh.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Rated on 02-27-2013 at Fullsteam Brewery. This draft beer’s appearance is a small off-white head that mostly diminishes, transparent golden body, no carbonation observed, and a good amount of lacing adorns my glass. The aroma is ginger, fruity and some pine hops. The flavor is lightly bitter, some pine hops, ginger, and has a dry finish. The mouthfeel is light carbonation adn this beer is medium bodied. This beer is very quaffable with an obvious presence of ginger.

On tap at burial. Not jumping up and down. Pours a decent pale orange. Nice lacing. Not much head. Ginger flavor is somewhat stale but not overpowering. Notes of honey (good), breadiness (ok), and phenols/ tannins (not good). Somewhat astringent. Citrus notes from hops but finishes overly bitter. Leaves an unpleasant lingering dryness. Light to medium bodied. Somewhat slick.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
BOD 9/23/14. Pours a clear amber just a few shades darker than golden with a light garnet hue. Excellent head volume, lacing and retention. Light nose of ginger, biscuit/caramel and herbal hops with a hint of spice. Light medium body with a somewhat smooth texture. Slightly below average carbonation with just a hint of effervescence in the finish. The nice flavor profile is intense, well balanced but ginger forward and somewhat complex. It begins with a ginger bite that flows into a ginger/hop bitterness. The bitterness has some rind characteristics. As the bitterness fades, a rich caramel and biscuit sweetness comes forward providing balance. The finish is a slow fade of sweet bitterness that ends with a ginger aftertaste. The main flaw is that the residual ginger tastes old rather than fresh.

I paired this up with a nice seared tuna and coconut rice dinner and I liked it. It has some dry ginger on the nose then once in the mouth the ginger combines with playful honeyed malts and a strong bitterness. It’s maybe a tiny bit too bitter but good stuff.

I liked this a lot more then I was anticipating. Nice simple pale ale with moderate ginger flavor. Sessionable and actually felt like less then 5%. I could drink a bunch of these without getting sick of the flavor. CACKALACKY! is also something thats fun to say +0.1

I like ginger, I like this. Very well played sirs. Hops and ginger both just perceptible on the nose. Light body, balanced by light ginger and light-brown sugar notes. Fades to littering hops, malt and essence of ginger.

Serving: 12 oz. can. Pretty solid gold pour. Light ginger in the nose. The flavor has a little pale malt sweetness, a slight bitterness, and restrained use of the ginger. Light, crisp, and refreshing. Pretty enjoyable.
