Our current Fearrington beer, Fearrington Winter, is a roasty Coffee Pecan Porter. Pecans add a subtle nuttiness, tempering the bitterness of the cold-pressed Fearrington coffee.

I thought this was an excellent beer that had local flavors that really represented North Carolina! Excellent porter that could be a staple brew from this brewery.

Pretty dark pour and sits black in the glass with two fingers of dense head. Nose shows lots of coffee and dark roast. A touch of rustic/earthy malt and some bitter chocolate. Coffee dominated the flavor and killed the body, as it is oft to do. A touch like drinking coffee with beer in it, an effect that I am less fond of than others. Some dark roast and a noticeable acidity. Light body and thin mouth feel.

2/21/14. Draft at Fullsteam. Pours almost black with a thin mocha head and a touch of lacing. Mild nutty nose. Nice subtle pecan and coffee notes in tasting. Very subtle and nicely balanced. Thinner porter style but better mouthfeel than many. No bitterness. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Dark black pour with small white head and minimal lacing. Aroma of nuts and malts and coffee. Flavor was a bit bittersweet with the roasted nuts and maltiness coming through. Thick mouthfeel and not a bad aftertaste. Good for style.

Tap at SAMs. Had no idea this was brewed with pecans when I was drinking it but it makes more sense now. Nose is light roasty coffee and some light nutty sweetness. Flavor mimics nose. Well balanced, if a bit on the sweeter side. A little bit thin for the style, but overall a solid offering from a brewery which often struggles with consistency.
