From Beerilicious iphone app: Nice beer. Great with some dry rub ribs. Make sure you are in the mood for a smoked beer and you’re good to go

This draft brew from the brewery poured a head of foamy finely sized dark tan colored bubbles that were mostly lasting and left behind a semi-opaque dark copper brown colored body. The nice aroma was smoky. The crisp mouth feel was weakly tingly at the start mediumly tingly at the finish with a strong smoky aftertaste. The nice flavor contained notes of smoky mild hops and malt. The smoke really comes through in the finish. A decent one that I would consider buying again.

Bottle. Pours a very dark brown with very little head. Nose is very smokey. Taste is the same - not a lot else to the beer aside from the smoke.

Pizzeria Paradiso, Georgetown tap: Pours dark brown with a beige head. Aroma is chocolate, smoke, and bacon. Taste is moderately smoked. It ain’t no Aecht Eiche Doppelbock, but it is not minimal either. The nice thing is that there are also all of the porter flavors basically uninterrupted by the smoke: kind of like drinking two beers at once. Pretty dank.
2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 HourGlass13 (20) - North Carolina, USA - JAN 2, 2013
Dark brown in the glass. This is beyond very smokey, it is liquid smoke. Not much flavor beyond that. A very interesting beer, but not easy to drink.

Interesting take on a smoked beer, with smoke fully in the forefront, and little actual beer character. Not bad, but could use some malt backbone. Softly carbonated, pours dark brown with very little head.

Pre-filled growler picked up at Sam’s in Durham. Pours dark brown with a slight tan head that fades to a persistent halo. No real lacing. Aroma is slightly smoky, roasted chocolate malt. Taste is VERY smoky, nice signature hickory flavor. A bit overly sweet, like maple syrup. But a nice nuttiness on the end. Very smooth mouthfeel and finishes slightly dry. Very easy drinking.

Draft. Murky brown color, brown head. Aroma of low smoulder and burnt household goods. Taste is chewy ashtray, but in a good way. Enough plain malt to balance the smoke. Tasty.

Tap at Fullsteam. Pours clear deep brown. Weaker tan foam. Smokey bacon nose. Savory steak, chocolate. Taste is lemony, tangy, lighter with decent lime marinaded steak. A bit oily. A tad soapy Suddy. Vey lemony.
