Draft. Murky brown color, brown head. Aroma of low smoulder and burnt household goods. Taste is chewy ashtray, but in a good way. Enough plain malt to balance the smoke. Tasty.

Draft. Medium tan head, cola red-brown body. Aroma is moderately sweet, caramel, some hickory smoke. Taste is moderately sweet, caramel, light wood smoke, cola. Medium body, light stickiness.

Glad to try my first Fullsteam beer. Growler from Bestway in Greensboro, opened 4/8/11. This thing did not want to be opened. Pours a slightly hazy dark rust color with a large creamy tan head. Good head retention and lacing. Aroma of hickory smoke and some roastiness. The taste is also quite smoke with some dark malts, tobacco notes and bitter hops. A little bit thin, but decent.

Tap at Fullsteam. Pours clear deep brown. Weaker tan foam. Smokey bacon nose. Savory steak, chocolate. Taste is lemony, tangy, lighter with decent lime marinaded steak. A bit oily. A tad soapy Suddy. Vey lemony.

Draft pint at the brewery. Pours a cloudy brown-amber color with a small off-white head. Aroma of campfire (definitely hickory wood), smoky, roasty malts, and dry toast. Not much but the smokiness going on in the nose, but it’s nice. Flavor of hickory smoked meat, toast, and some sweet malts. Light-bodied (another Fullsteam brew that would benefit from a bigger and/or better mouthfeel), with a smoky mouthfeel and low carbonation. Not bad but seems incomplete.

This draft brew from the brewery poured a head of foamy finely sized dark tan colored bubbles that were mostly lasting and left behind a semi-opaque dark copper brown colored body. The nice aroma was smoky. The crisp mouth feel was weakly tingly at the start mediumly tingly at the finish with a strong smoky aftertaste. The nice flavor contained notes of smoky mild hops and malt. The smoke really comes through in the finish. A decent one that I would consider buying again.

Pizzeria Paradiso, Georgetown tap: Pours dark brown with a beige head. Aroma is chocolate, smoke, and bacon. Taste is moderately smoked. It ain’t no Aecht Eiche Doppelbock, but it is not minimal either. The nice thing is that there are also all of the porter flavors basically uninterrupted by the smoke: kind of like drinking two beers at once. Pretty dank.

Taps opaque coffee brown with a nice, fine-bubbled tan head. Aroma features hickory smoke, roast malt and semi-sweet chocolate notes, more stout than Porter. Flavor delivers roast malt, hickory smoke, chocolate, and subtle molasses notes. This ain’t no hogwash! Firm, smooth body has good fizz. Get smoked - but please contact Lyft or Uber if you get too smoked!

Pours a dark coppery brown that shows significant light and produces a one finger foamy tan head. Nose is smoky and meaty, mildly goaty with some hay, copper/rusty, Munich malts showing a little (?). Flavor reminds me of a barn or hay that goats have been in, smoky, woody, some rusty malt, medium hop bitterness. Palate shows a medium hop bite and decent body. Needs more "porter", looks like a robust brown and doesn’t have much character besides smoked grain.
