Great right out of the gate. Lots of vanilla and bourbon. Star anise and slight nose if Bret somehow. Great balanced beer.

Poured from 22oz bottle. Pours black with tons of khaki head. Too much carbonation. Aroma is some anise, coffee and whiskey. Taste follows with notes of smoke, licorice and whiskey.

Draught. Pours a near-black color with almost no head on it. Nose is quite filled with the bourbon from the aging process, and the roastiness you expect is hidden underneath that, but present. Taste is a tad boozy to me, but still smooth and quite roasty. Nice drink.

Bottle @ Bobby’s house. Shared by Sam. Black pour with a khaki head. Nose starts out a little soapy, but otherwise good roast, caramel, bourbon, and licorice notes. Some vanilla and fudge sweetness. Flavor is pleasantly sweet with a light bitterness. Lots of roast, licorice, and oak. Bourbon, vanilla, and some booze notes. A bit of sweet fudge and some caramel. Not bad.

651mL thanks to NoSignsOfPain! Pours near black, weak tan foam. Nose is sugar, creamed sweet coffee, tomato style sticky bourbon. Taste is sweet and sour mix with lemon and sweet coffee drink. Sugary with acid in palate. Strange.

Had on tap at Fullsteam Brewery. Pours a very dark brown with a beige head. The aroma has a strong hit of bourbon with lesser hints of vanilla and coffee. The bourbon comes out very strong within the first few seconds of a sip but then you get a smooth aftertaste of vanilla which makes it easy going down. The aftertaste is a very enjoyable mix of bourbon and vanilla. A very drinkable bourbon barrel imperial.

Draft. Tried really hard to find what I didn’t love about this one because I rate rating something less than awesome and not being able to defend myself. I guess it just came off a little thin and simple. There was roasted malt, slick sweetness, and some oxidation. Just meh. Sort of sad because I was looking forward to trying this one.

4oz pour an inky black with some creamy beige head. Nose is nice, chocolate, coconut, vanilla, some booze, some cake icing, some cherry, some molasses. Flavor has a flick of pepper, vanilla, coconut, wood pulp, caramel, cherry, medicinal. Hot, peppery finish. All over the place.

Draft. Dark brown color, tan edge head. Aroma of licorice and chocolate liqueur. Taste is burnt coffee. Nice.
