Bottle @ Bobby’s house. Shared by Sam. Black pour with a khaki head. Nose starts out a little soapy, but otherwise good roast, caramel, bourbon, and licorice notes. Some vanilla and fudge sweetness. Flavor is pleasantly sweet with a light bitterness. Lots of roast, licorice, and oak. Bourbon, vanilla, and some booze notes. A bit of sweet fudge and some caramel. Not bad.

651mL thanks to NoSignsOfPain! Pours near black, weak tan foam. Nose is sugar, creamed sweet coffee, tomato style sticky bourbon. Taste is sweet and sour mix with lemon and sweet coffee drink. Sugary with acid in palate. Strange.

Dark black in color, thick black head. Nice dark stout but chocolate and coffee flavors. Aroma was also thick and very good. This was a very good Impy Stout.

4oz pour an inky black with some creamy beige head. Nose is nice, chocolate, coconut, vanilla, some booze, some cake icing, some cherry, some molasses. Flavor has a flick of pepper, vanilla, coconut, wood pulp, caramel, cherry, medicinal. Hot, peppery finish. All over the place.

Good bottle/label. Deep coffee brown beer. Tangy, whiskey aroma, medium sweet and vinous. Winey, vanilla, tangy - not as roasty as expected. Efferevescent and warming. Thanks to someone at Proof for sharing.

On tap at the brewery, Durham. Having tried a variant of this stout over the summer, it was nice to get a crack at the base beer. Turned out to be a very enjoyable example of the style. Nice dusty looking black pour, with a moderately oily looking body and a thin but lasting head. Pleasant aroma with an abundance of roasted malts and a nice understated barrel presence to complement that. Nice full mouthfeel, just enough carbonation, and nice semi-dry finish. Somehow the presence of the deep chocolate flavors and the bourbon give this one just a hint of a dark fruit quality, even without the additions. Nice stuff.

Draught @ Sam’s Blue Light and The Pit. Opaque black pour. Head is dark tan and one finger thick. Lots of bourbon in the nose, some coffee and chocolate with hints of vanilla and cherry skin. Rich and roasty flavor with lots of vanillin and bourbon. Hints of alcohol and cherry. Medium body and a warming finish.
