COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is where it all began. A homebrewer, a backyard recipe, and a vision to become a landmark brewery for the South. Fullsteam is a true-to-style American Common Lager, a hoppy and malty amber beer inspired by our dream to make a positive impact on a local community and build a Southern beer economy. Fullsteam is the first beer we ever brewed and our namesake for the adventure it launched.

Draft at Brewvival 2012. Pours a clear copper with a large frothy tan head. Decent head retention. Aroma of toffee malts, nuts and caramel. The taste is grainy malts, stone fruits and caramel. Medium bodied. I could drink this by the gallon.

Tap at Fullsteam. Pours a clear amber. Webby lacing. Nose is odd but good- squashy noble style hops, rye, earthy bread. Taste is a bit sticky, spicy, rich and dense. Rustic and heavy. Clean. Quite hoppy with noble style hops. I like this one. IPA profile on a lager. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Taster on tap at Churchkey. Clear red orange color. Little, kind of bubbly off-white head. Dots and splotches of lace. Smooth, crisp, lighter carbonation. More dry finish. Bigger bitter taste, light sweet. Good toasty malt, and bigger earthy citrusy hop profile. Great, impressive California Common. The IPA of commons, basically. Good bigger hoppy aftertaste.

Draft at the brewpub; JCB told us this was formerly known as the Carolina Common, which I think was a better (and probably more accurate) name. Pours a clear copper color with a small white head. Looks like the Schlafly Pi Common I had last month, and it’s nice to see more brewers taking a crack at the style that made Anchor famous. Aroma of earthy hops, sweet malts, straw, leaves, and toast. Flavor of sweet malts, sugar, earthy hops, straw, yeast, and wood. Light-bodied, with sharp carbonation and a toasty mouthfeel. Not a bad take on the style.

3/25/11. Growler courtesy mlunger12. Slightly hazy amber pour with a huge fluffy off-white head. Malty but slightly funky banana/bubblegum aroma. Big malty flavor with a hint of bubblegum. Hmmm.

Bottle. Head is initially average sized, frothy, off-white, mostly lasting. Body is light to medium amber. Aroma is moderately malty (caramel, malt syrup, wort), with notes of grape juice, taffy. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly to moderately bitter, unclean. Medium body, watery/syrupy texture, lively carbonation. Raw and clunky and sweet and syrupy. A dumper.

4oz pour at Churchkey comes a clear, sweet potato brown with some cloudy, white head. Nose has some malt, corn, cracker, biscuit. Flavor has some corny sweetness, orange, honey, mild biscuit. Clean finish.

Pretty tasty for style. Lots of interesting malt in here that comes through with nice aromas despite steaming. Medium thick consistency. Light hops in finish with a little citrus zest. Tap at Churchkey.
