Bottle @ Crooked Stave ROY-G-BIV Day. Pour is deep brown with a small tan head and good lacing. Big roast, cocoa, green coffee, oak, bread, and somewhat earthy aroma. Taste is dark fruits, caramelly, brown sugar, light cocoa, coffee, and wood with a light bitter finish. Sticky mouthfeel with soft carbonation. Very tasty and well-balanced, hard to believe it is 10%.

750 ml bottle served in a Jester King Chalice. Shared in line at KBS. A: Pours a dark black color with a tan head forming on the pour. It recedes to a thin ring that leaves some splotchy lace down the glass. S: Roasted malts with a ground coffee bean note. Mild hints of sweet espresso with some pale sweet oats and a little dark fruits. Unsweetened chocolate as well. T: Heavily roasted malts with espresso bean sweetness. Bitter coffee grounds with a mild dark fruit character. Some chocolaty notes as well. M: Medium to heavy bodied with a medium carbonation level. Bitter and roasty finish. O: Solid offering, although I prefer Worthy Adversary to this beer. The coffee bean was a little too bitter for my liking and needed another level of complexity to put this in the upper echelon of coffee beers. Serving type: bottle

750ml bottle to snifter. Pours oily black brown with a nice khaki tan tight foamy head that slowly fades to a sudsy film and collar along with subtle lacing. Aroma is smooth strong coffee and roasted malt and some hidden bakers chocolate and soy. Taste is great bitter velvet bakers chocolate and coffee along with soy and roasted malt. Palate is full rich and oily along with a chalky dry finish. This is fantastic! Really smooth and delicious!

Bottle. Pours black with little head. Nice aroma of chocolate, roasted malts and coffee. Flavor matches the aroma well, thinner mouthfeel than I had anticipated. Solid offering.
