Fulton War and Peace is a Russian Imperial Stout conditioned with whole bean Peace Coffee in the fermentation tank. Itís an epic work of beer, but unlike the novel, this beer is brief and fleeting, appearing just once a year in February. Historic quantities of chocolate malt and roast barley clash over a field of dark roast Peace Coffee beans. Like Tolstoyís masterpiece, it may take some time to finish and require some thought along the way. But by the end, we think youíll find yourself better for the effort.

Bottle [from trade with mista, thanks!] shared @ The Hague Tasting. Opaque pitch black color, medium sized brown head. Aroma is malts, chocolate, roast, coffee. Taste malts, dark chocolate, roasted malts, coffee, bitter. More bitterness than I expected, but a nice bitter, dark chocolate, coffee roast finish. Medium to full body, medium carbonation. Nice one!

On tap at the brewery. Pours near black with a light brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma is full of rich coffee backed by roasted malts and dark grains. Flavor is similarly dominated by coffee with some dark grains and roasted malts underlying.

Pours deep black/brown with huge dark tan head. If you want a coffee stout, this is it. With whole coffee beans in the cask, the beer is literally coffee, with some beer flavor. Aroma is big chocolate and darkly roasted coffee. Taste is like drinking a huge dark roast coffee, with some chocolate, toffee, and a huge bitter finish from the coffee. Easily the best coffee stout Iíve ever had.

UPDATED: DEC 30, 2013 Cask. Dark brown pour with minimal head. Huge coffee nose and taste. Some chocolate on taste as well. Body semi-thin.

wow - it was nice but didnít expect to see 98th percentile. the coffee is good, if a touch green, and the stout is good...lots of roast and hops and hints of chocolate. The feel is a little small for an irs at nearly 10%, but itís solid otherwise.
