The pour is sort of a dark amber color with a white head. Quite malty and sweet with minimal hop aroma. A hint of floral hops and maybe a touch of citrus peel. The flavor is similarly lacking in the hop department. Bread and toffee are the prominent flavors with a little caramel, too. Mild floral hop flavor and very little in the way of bitterness.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Skyview (5023) - Papoose Jct, Minnesota, USA - OCT 28, 2009
On draught at the Happy Gnome in St. Paul, MN during their Official Launch Party on October 28, 2009. Pours a clear copper amber colored brew with a thin off-white head that quickly dissipates and leaves behind some spotty lacing. Aroma is very light of caramel malt, some Simcoe and flowery hops, a touch of pear and a hint of sweet almond marzipan. Taste is medium bodied, nicely balanced carbonation with flavors of mostly caramel malt, a hint of toffee and some flowery hops in the background. Finish has a mild light bitterness that quickly disappears. This beer profile is closer to a German Vienna style beer than an American IPA as the bitterness quickly disappears and leaves behind a mostly a caramel and toffee aftertaste. It is not an in-your-face, west coast caliber citusy IPA as one of their local competitor is known for, the Fulton guys do not skimp on the full body malt character in this inauguration beer.
2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Thorpe429 (4844) - , Illinois, USA - FEB 4, 2012
Bottle courtesy of dougofthefuture. Served in a Bruery tulip.
Pours a nice amber-copper color with a thin white head that very quickly recedes into a thin collar. The nose has some slight floral elements along with a lot of bread and some caramel. Very reminiscent of Dogfish 60. Flavor is similar with more of a malt emphasis. Even for an English IPA, this is really malt heavy. Very slight dryness to the finish. Brew itself is rather chewy. Decent enough, but nothing out of the ordinary.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 deyholla (4787) - Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, USA - FEB 9, 2010
On tap at Stub & Herbs. Poured a clear amber with a thin white head. Aroma had a nice combination of citrus and pine with a hint of a grassiness. Flavor was had much more of a sweet grain present with some pine and citrus hops.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 TheAlum (4289) - Lisle, Illinois, USA - FEB 19, 2013
Draft on tap at the brewery (Minneapolis, MN). Pours a deeper copper amber hue, darker body, richer orange honeybrown glow, mellow haziness. Orange amber edges glow. A frothy offwhite head laces well on the glass, mellow lacing. Frothy head laces ok. Aromas are a good deal of english malt, biscuit and gentle toffee. Toast, dry florals and earthy hops. Mellow bitterness, toasty malts. Initial is lighter end of medium bodied, offering toasty malts, biscuits and a decent floral and earthy hopping. Grass and gentle lemon. A bit of body, gentle spiciness as we move back, firmer florals and grass bitter it up a bit. A touch of body, toast and biscuit. Bready malts. A firm hopping that is in the true English tradition. What it lacks in creativity or oomph, it makes up for in sound and balanced brewing. Not bad.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 badgerben (4253) - Blaine, Minnesota, USA - DEC 30, 2010
UPDATED: AUG 18, 2012 Original Rating, 12/30/10: On tap at The Local. Copper color with a medium head. Moderate piney hop aroma. Sweet grainy taste. Low bitterness, but noticeable pine and citrus flavor from the hops. On a personal note, this was my 172nd IPA, finally pushing any other style of beer over Pale Lager. Huzzah!
Re-rating, 8/18/12. I wanted to try this one again since production has moved to their own brewery. Hazy copper color with a medium head. Moderately hoppy nose, light caramel. Bready and caramel flavor. Light pine. Solid bitterness.
