COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A libertine is someone living free of society’s restraints. Similarly, The Libertine doesn’t constrain itself with preconceived notions of what a beer style should be. Loaded with malts that include the UK’s premium Maris Otter and Caramel 60, and topped off with Rye to impart a distinct reddish hue, the Libertine is a malt-dominated red ale like none you’ve ever had before. It boasts a rich, indulgent body without being overly sweet. Conventional classifications fail The Libertine, but who really wants to play by the rules anyway?

Draft at Fulton Taphouse near Target Field in Minneapolis. Sweetness in the nose. Softly carbonated. Higher alcohol prevalent. Caramel notes with a hint of molasses. A little harshness/pepper in the finish. Nice beer, probably their best to date.

At Fulton on tap, nice dark golden red pour with light lacy head. Sweeter hoppy/malty aroma translates to a nice flavor with rye notes. Alcohol is noticeably present but not harsh.

Sampled this at The Dabbler yesterday. A very pleasant beer and surprisingly easy drinking for an imperial red.

UPDATED: APR 20, 2012 Pours deep amber, thin head. Sweet and malty with a full body, very well balanced, with a pleasant sour taste. Very good!

Tasted this at it’s release party in minneapolis. Thought it was a tasty Red Ale, well balanced and unique, and smoother that the ABV would indicate. surely worth a try.

ABR 2010. I liked this. Tons of malt aroma and grainy, malt flavor on the palate with bread. Just a light hint of roast. The rye gives a very light sourness. Red/brown color.
