COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A libertine is someone living free of society’s restraints. Similarly, The Libertine doesn’t constrain itself with preconceived notions of what a beer style should be. Loaded with malts that include the UK’s premium Maris Otter and Caramel 60, and topped off with Rye to impart a distinct reddish hue, the Libertine is a malt-dominated red ale like none you’ve ever had before. It boasts a rich, indulgent body without being overly sweet. Conventional classifications fail The Libertine, but who really wants to play by the rules anyway?

Poured from a 740ml bottle Aroma - sweet cherry smell - almost like a cherry pie Appearance - Poured a hazy think reddish color, very little head - quickly disapates. Taste - Tastes just like it smells, like a cherry pie. Nice malty backbone, but definately not too much malt. Palate - medium-ish body, good carbination with a solid after taste. Solid Imperial Red, would definately try again.

Some bitterness in the finish. Palate: medium body. Good carbonation. Longer finish. Overall: decent beer. Hoppy flavor, but not overly bitter. Decent flavor.

Bomber bottle. Pours a very hazy thick reddish brown with a quickly dissipating head. Got a little bit on my fingers, this stuff is STICKY. Flavor is heavily malt forward. Brown sugar, rye, toffee. Finish is slightly fruity. Medium to full bodied. Well carbonated. An easy sipper for 8.5 ABV.

750 ml bottle. Pours a old copper red color with a thin tight beige film that fades to a tiny ring. Aroma is malty sweet caramel slight toffee and red licorice. Taste has loads of malt candied sugar toffee and caramel apple with a little spice hop and subtle bitter finish. Palate is medium to full slightly chewy and sticky with a dry finish. I like, but not mind blowing.

Poured on tap at the brewery. Nice dark coloring. Rich malt flavors and lighter in hops than many Imperial Reds I have tried. I like the reduced hop presence. Overall my favorite beer from Fultons

Pours murky reddish brown, aroma is light roast and sweet. Taste is pretty mild, roasted and toffee, needs a but more hops

Sampled on tap at Fulton. Pours an amber color with white head. Caramel, syrupy, malty flavors. Kinda flat and cardboardy.

Tap. Dark unfiltered red. Small head and decent lacing. Funky dark fruit aroma. Yeasty dark fruit taste. I liked the balance and slight sourness.

Tap at Northbound Smokehouse. A better than average red ale with a strong amber appearance. Light on the lacing but still strikes a fresh visual. Tastes mild without much aggression. More malt than hops but decently balanced. Aftertaste not its strong point...definitely leads with its best foot forward. A good option from one of the best MN breweries.

UPDATED: JAN 20, 2014 Full bodied beer, great for autumn drinking. Lots of hops but also malty to smooth it out. Would definitely recommend and drink again!
