Bottle @ Crooked Stave ROY-G-BIV Day. Pours a black appearance with a brown head. Roasty chocolate malty, coffee, mild vanilla, a bit caramel aroma. Pretty smooth flavor for 10% abv. Dark chocolate, cocoa, light vanilla, roasty coffee flavor.

Bottle [from trade with mista, thanks!] shared @ The Hague Tasting. Opaque pitch black color, medium sized brown head. Aroma is malts, chocolate, roast, coffee. Taste malts, dark chocolate, roasted malts, coffee, bitter. More bitterness than I expected, but a nice bitter, dark chocolate, coffee roast finish. Medium to full body, medium carbonation. Nice one!

Pours deep black/brown with huge dark tan head. If you want a coffee stout, this is it. With whole coffee beans in the cask, the beer is literally coffee, with some beer flavor. Aroma is big chocolate and darkly roasted coffee. Taste is like drinking a huge dark roast coffee, with some chocolate, toffee, and a huge bitter finish from the coffee. Easily the best coffee stout I’ve ever had.

750 ml bottle shared at Kentucky Brunch Release (Decorah, IA). Pours a deep dark opaque blackish hue, a frothy tannish head dies to a frothy film, laces ok. Aromas are stark coffee, toast, roast. Some mellow dark cocoa, toffee, and roast. Some vanilla, gentle oak, the spirit doesn’t show up much. Initial is thicker but not full, good rich coffee, roast and toast. Touches of toffee, toast, espresso. Middle is big coffee, java, some oak. Really nice rich coffee presence, cocoa and dark cocoa is mellow. Backend is roasty, big coffee, mellow oak. A faint waft of spirit. Pretty inviting for coffee lovers, touch of spice and heat as we finish up. Cocoa, some thickness, vanilla and a touch tannic. Cocoa, whiskey, rich espresso finish. A really well put together beer. Mellow oak, could use a touch more barrel element but the coffee is rich and the experience is synergenic. Tasty.
