Malt beverage aged in used wine barrels. O’so Brewery presents Funk Factory’s inaugural blend: Dweller on the Threshold. Averaging 18 months, this is a blend of sour beer which has been fermented and matured in french oak wine barrels. It was then bottle conditioned and will continue to mature in the bottle for up to 10 years if kept dark and cool. Enjoy this sour, wild and of course funk beer! Proceeds of this bottle will help Funk Factory build a coolship and continue their efforts to produce Lambic according to the traditional method. Thanks for your support!

I’ve been able to enjoy this beer a few times - twice after the release and again now. It was good at release, but it’s really blossomed into something special - great mix of funk with a nice citrus acidity. This is one of the few American versions of the style that can stand with the traditional Belgians.

Had this beer paired with White Lodge and some killer smoked and cured salmon. The citrus in the cured salmon paired so well with both. The funkiness if this beer and the development in the bottle over time has taken this from good to excellent. Stellar beer.

Overall, a very complex and enjoyable sour with great fruit flavors and a light sourness which is quite refreshing.

Surprising beer. Aroma and flavor have a corky lambic Brett character. The comes some rubber lambic phenolics. It needs more carbonation and a bit of a younger beer blend and I think u get a decent 3F clone. Very long and dry finish.

750mL bottle, pours a clear dark golden orange with a small white head. Aroma brings out vinegar, medium acid, light funk, and light floral quality. Flavour is quite tart, vinegar and acetic, with low funk, high acidity and high vinegar quality. Not really all that complex, with too much acidity for me. Decent, but not my kind of sour.

750ml bottle shared at tasting. Unfiltered orange-tan. Oily head. Pretty standard US Sour..in a good way. Apricot tinged sour yeast tones. Relatively light on the palate, medium bodied. Mellow carbonation. Lemon-lime tones. Tasty, clean for the style.

Picked up 750ml bottle (181/450) from Funk Factory release party at O’so brewery tap room. Pours a hazy Amber colored brew with a thin off-white head that quickly dissipates and leaves behind a film top and minimal lacing. Aroma of funk caramel and mild cheddar cheese. Taste is medium bodied, minimal carbonation but still has plenty of barnyard funk, toffee, light oak and citrus. Finish has a high tartness at first and then slowly fades out. Most of the guests were trying to get the Scarlett Letter. This one was the sleeper sour that most overlooked.

Clear amber pour with no head. Low carbonation. Beautiful nose - cheesy and funky. Sour, slight citrus quickly fading into complex soft oak, slightly bitter finish. Very nicely done.
