American sour with dates. The mouthof a perfectly contented man is filled with beer. Sikaru was a beer brewed thousands of years ago by the Sumerians. I learned of how this beer was made, it struck me how similar it was to the Belgian lambic process. I read that Sikaru was commonly fruited with dates and decided to add dates to a couple of our young lambic-style sour barrels. 100lbs of dates went into each barrel and with all that additional sugar it took an additional 6 months to finish and resulted in a high ABV beer. Treat this like a big barleywine. Lay one down to mellow for a few years and enjoy with friends!

I just donít like this beer. Had a few times and it has gotten better, but the flavors are at best odd to me. Worth having tried, just didnít work out

Bottle shared by Bob at a tasting. Copper color. Both dry yeast, brett I believe, and sour yeast as well. It is a little sweet with the tartness, and I am surprised to see the abv is so high.

Bottle, thanks for sharing! Pours a near clear peach with a gray head that dissipates immediately and completely. Roma is full of chese and leaves with a tart fruit backing. Flavor combines cheese and earthy tart fruits that round in to a dry finish.

Bottle shared at tasting. Pours golden brown. Strong funk on the nose with some yeast. Taste same with a little funky cheese. Dry clean finish. Realky good.

Bomber. Mostly clear light orange pour with a small head. Funky cheesy nose with a bit of banana. Slick palate. Solid.

Picked up 750ml bottle from Funk Factory release party at Oíso brewery tap room. Pours a semi hazy amber colored brew with a thin off-white head that quickly dissipates and leaves behind some light film top. Aroma of green banana, mild dates, some dark pitted fruits and basement cellar cardboard. Taste is full bodied with flavors of tart dates, funk tropical fruits, light cheese, menthol, and a touch of tart apple. Finish still has a mild tartness and hides the high 12.75% alcohol with some dry date and light apple aftertastes.

Clear amber pour with no head. Nose is very interesting - green banana, stone fruit. Slightly carbonated. Sour. Lots of fun fruit happening in here, very sour. Enjoyable, but I couldnít drink this all by myself.

Pour out of 750 ml bottle, hazy reddish pour with slight white head, aroma brought notes of cheese, banana, hints of dark fruit, touch of sweet reddish fruits, hints of tart acidic lemon. Taste is a mix of sour grass, funky cheese, basement, some date/banana, earthy tones, nice spice, finishing fairly tart, dry, slightly spicy.

Bottle: † Dark straw, dirty, little to no head nor lacing. † Appears still to me. † Looks more Lambic than a Sour Ale. † Nice funky sour aroma. † Barnish, a little bready and yeasty, with some minor dark pitted fruit. † Sour and vinegary up front, yeasty, very mealy on the backside. † Still, not much for carbonation. † Not as bright as others, a bit heavy in fact. † Moderate body and mouthfeel. † Sharp sourness on the finish, a little vinegar like, makes my mouth water. † Seems much more like a thick Lambic, with a bit of mealiness. † Canít tell this is 12.75% which is cool † Puckering finish. † Not a real big fan of the heavy mealiness that lingers, but this one is sour and very Lambic like. † Thanks Bob!
