COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Inspired by the Trappist breweries of Belgium this Belgian Style Quadruple is the base beer that we are currently aging in Oak Bourbon barrels. A malt forward but yet fruity aroma smoothly transitions into caramel and dark fruit showcasing the versatility of our house yeast strain. A well-balanced finish makes this strong but quaffable beer the perfect way to end a long day

From a bottle served at the Funkwerks beer dinner at Birch and Barley, DC. Pours a murky dark brown with an ecru head. Flavors of caramel, raisins, vanilla and oak. Sweet finish.

750ml bottle. Not a style I particularily prefer with bourbon. It is like a bourbon old fashoned.

Tap at the source. Pours the exact, opaque color of apple cider with thin white head. Smells of molasses, apricot, dark fruit, and wood. Drinks with a mild alcoholic bite and mild lingering bitterness. Medium to full bodied. Tastes of bread, esthers, sugar, and vanilla.

On tap at Boulder Strong Ale Fest (2014). Pour is murky amber with a small white head and decent lacing. Dark fruits, toffee, caramel, bread, lighty whisky, banana, raisins, and figs in the aroma. Taste is slightly oxidized, bready, caramelly, prunes, plums, figs, and roasted malt with a light alcoholic burn on the back-end. Slick mouthfeel with soft carbonation. Much better than the original.

Deep brown pour, a pretty small tannish/brown head. Flavors of rasins, doughy malts, some bourbon, toothpick and some light earthy notes.

On tap at Funkwerks. Appearance: Slight white head that reduces to a film quickly, cloudy orange copper color. Aroma: bourban, oak, smoky, dark fruit. Palate: lively carbonation, alcohol warmness and texture, light body. Taste: light malty sweetness to heavy fruity sweetness. Overall, very unique, very memorable, and well done for what they are doing. Recommend.

Murky dark copper with a thin white cap head. The nose starts with a big bourbony/brown sugar note with a touch of dark cherry and dark caramel. The flavor is big and boozy with dark brown sugar and bourbon tones, dark earthy caramel, dates and cherries, and a warm oaked, sweet bourbon finish.

Dark muddled copper pour with a small khaki cap. Loads of brown sugar, graham cracker, vanilla, caramel, molasses, oak, and bourbon. Pretty well integrated. Definitely my favorite from these guys. Wouldn’t mind another bottle.
