2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
UPDATED: AUG 29, 2014 Bottle: Thanks, Ed. Gusher alert! Gushed for what seemed like days. Pours about 10% beer & 90% foam. Huge, white, sticky, long-lasting foam. Cloudy, off-yellow beer. Aroma of very sweaty Brett, funky old pineapple & bales of musky, cobweb ridden hay. A hint of strawberry candy lies in there somewhere, but this is mostly horsey Brett. Almost too much. Taste has lots of dusty hay, straw, a touch of pineapple & lemon zest, woodsy notes, dirty earth, & a whole heaping of sweaty, musty Brett funk. Dry as dry can be... I love Brett but this was a little too dry & funky, almost overwhelming. Okay, but it needs more balance.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle 395 of 2100.
Aroma is fairly Brett forward with a ton of tropical fruit, pineapple and citrus. Light phenolic peppercorn character, but overall this is very Brett forward.
There are gushers and then there are those beers that remind you of Pompeii. This is the latter. Once I am able to pour a beer it pours a cloudy pale yellow with a big pillowy white head. Head has quite a long retention time and a large amount of lacing.
Flavor is also fairly bretty but this time the phenolic character is bordering on plastic and is overly harsh. Moderate pineapple, tropical fruit and cherry pie with hints of citrus. Phenolic character is peppercorn but also with a plastic finish. Medium bitterness.
Mouthfeel is medium light bodied with high carbonation. Medium low, but present astringency with low alcohol warmth.
Overall an alright Brett beer but there are definitely better ones out there. It might have been better fresh but after a year and a half the phenolic character has gotten less than pleasant.

750mL shared at Woodshop. Pours a full haze peach with healthy white foam. Nose is juicy Brett C, mild sugar, peach, pear. Taste is sugary still, pear and pineapple. Buoyant, refreshing palate. Pretty solid.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Thanks, Jeff! Translucent yellow pour, medium head and spotty lacing. Nose is earthy, raw, and occasionally floral like a well realized saison. Yes, there’s certainly some Brett in the nose too, but thankfully not merciless and one-dimensional. Taste is a bit phenolic though, surprisingly, with some malty characteristics accentuating this a bit. Horseblanket and brett are there, and will probably grow more prominent in time. Not bad but not what I’d anticipated.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
Great delicate mixed fermentation Saison. Mild perseverance fruit flavors balanced with spice an grainy malt flavors. Not a over powering Brett flavor profile. Very balanced like Saison should be.

3.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle shared by Armin - thanks!! Big white head, a bit of a gusher, a hazy golden yellow pour. Lovely nose on this brew lots of fruit, and a little twang. Taste is pretty subdued though, somehow all the fun stuff in the nose does not translate to the taste at all. Flat. Still a fun beer to have tried.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Picked up a bottle despite the fact that it was $2 more than the regular saison. I just like brett, what can I say? This wasa cloudy yellow color, huge head at first. Smells like brett but not a strong aroma, a little funk, a little citrus, ehh. Flavor was distinctly brett but just didn’t do it for me. I guess I have been spoiled by Boulevard Saison Brett and Victory Helios. This was pretty average and completely overpriced. In fact I think the regular Funkwerks saison is better.

Bottle shared at Darkness Day 2012. Hazy yellow pour with a huge white head. Saison-like with a nice sour element. Good beer.
