Tap at Tap N’ Handle in Ft. Collins. Hazy brown pour with a white head. Nose is dark fruit. Taste is really fun, dark fruits, some funk and a touch of tart with a big woody and bourbon finish.

Pours dark with a tan head. Aroma is raisin, caramel, aged woodiness, candy, faint bourbon, and a hint of spice. Taste is raisin, malts, yeast, woody, caramel, toasty, and a hint of bourbon. Finish is smooth, creamy, and slightly chewy. It has a lingering sweetness. Really nice strong ale.

Funkwerks Dark Prophet: Serving: Draft at Black Squirrel. It pours almost black with a small beige head. The nose is heavy with stone fruit, bourbon, and all around booziness. The flavor has some nice wood notes, lots of dried fruit, plum, caramel, and plenty of bourbon. Medium to full body that’s lightened by the abundant carbonation. Interesting and good, but not one I would come back too.

Bottle. Red dark brown colour with a beige head. Aroma is fruit, wood, yeast, dried fruit. Flavour is sugar, malt, hop, spices, coffee, licorice, chocolate, fruit, yeast, dried fruits. Nice beer.

Clear medium to dark brown - red amber colour with a average to large, frothy to creamy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, bread, roasted, caramel, light wood and overriped dark fruit. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20130215]

UPDATED: APR 13, 2013 Tap at Hops and Pie. Plays more like a quad with dark forest fruits (blackberries, predominantly), brown sugar, and some bourbon on the nose and finish. Bourbon is subtle and well integrated. Almost chewy palate. This was the 2nd batch (’13). Interested to see how the original batch in the cellar compares.

Tap at Funkwerks - I have serious issue with them mentioning saison in the.description of this beer, as it is in no way a saison, but anyway - loads of bourbon, oak, dark fruit (plum, fig), and black cherry in the nose - full body, nice texture, firm body for the abv - flavor has strong vanilla, oak, and bourbon notes - some toffee and caramel - plum, raisin - finish and spices, fig, brown sugar - a solid bourbon aged belgian strong ale - nice warmth in the finish.

Bottle thanks to adnielsen! Tasted this at the brewery but only ticked and didn’t rate for some reason so glad to have a chance to try it again from the comfort of my own home! Pours a deep mahogany with a thick, persistent cream head. Aroma is light, mostly dark fruits. Taste is very well balanced with fruit, funk, chocolate, vanilla, and a very slight bourbon burn that is perfect for a bit of warmth.

Pours a dark copper. Apple, cinnamon aroma with hints of vanilla. Vanilla and bourbon notes arise and predominate the taste. Ends with a slight tartness and a hot whiskey character.
