3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 jcnielsen (840) - Kansas City, Missouri, USA - APR 9, 2013
Bottle. Thanks to adnielsen for sending the bottle. Pours a golden color with white head. Straw, malty, lemon, citrus aromas. Lemon, honey, malty flavors. Crisp and refreshing. I can’t believe this beer is 9%.
4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 swanmann (469) - Norman, Oklahoma, USA - MAR 12, 2013
Out of the bottle: It’s bright, straw golden in color, hazy, with well sustained, fluffy, sticky white head. Aromas of lemon, citrus, caramel, some booze and biscuit. It tastes sort of like a Saison, but not as dry. It’s tart and fairly sweet, but not nearly as sweet as a trippel. The carbonation is adequate. Holds up fairly well as it warms, with tartness falling back a bit. GREAT BREW!
4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 mensch (187) - Loveland, Colorado, USA - MAR 12, 2013
Bright and very pale yellow with a rocky white head. Lemon and chalky yeast aroma - tart and lactic. Initial sweetness is quicky walloped by that tartness and a bone dry, fully attenuated finish, like chewing on Meyer lemon rind. Tastes as if they snuck some New Zealand hops in there. Evident alcohol. Highly carbonated, but mercifully, less than the benchmark - Duvel, and the lemon notes are an interesting addition. I believe the student has surpassed the master.
4.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20 mickles (1) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - FEB 28, 2013 does not count
It’s clear why this beer won gold at gabf. Elegantly done in an in-elegant category from a brewery that specializes in doing elegant styles better than the benchmarks of their original countries. Also, why are all these ratings from Denmark? Didn’t Funkwerks just recently make it to Nebraska? Snag a bottle, the Danes are incorrect.
3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 bhensonb (8991) - Woodland, California, USA - FEB 21, 2013
Capped 750 from LetsPour. Pours dishwater gold with a 3 finger creamy white head. Aroma of mildly sourish citrus. Full bodied. Flavor is citrous/lemon, some lightly bready malt, and some arguable Belgian yeast/spice. Certainly fruity esters. Banana? Maybe not. Finishes on the dry, lightly tart, mildly earthy side. There’s a bite to it. Tasty enough.

Bottle, 75cl. It’s an almost clear one, pale golden in color and with a small, white head on top. A quite lemony aroma with some pale malts and a touch of spices. Rather bitter flavor initially, soon balanced by sugary sweetness and citrus peel flavors. A light spicyness too. Full body, dry and pleasantly carbonated. Citrusy, bitter finish. A tasteful one, reminiscent of tripels, almost quenching. 130215
