COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This light-hued beer was inspired by Belgian Tripels and Golden Strong ales. A high percentage of Pilsner malt and a new yeast strain we used present a lemon character in the aroma. This citrus quality carries into the flavor and finishes with a slight tartness. This beer is well balanced and smooth, making it easy to drink and sightly deceptive because of its high ABV.

From the September 2013 3R6P tasting +++ Sampled from a 750 ml brown bottle this beer poured a hazy pale yellow color with a large foamy white head that lingered and left good lacing. The aroma was tangy sugar, ripe golden fruits, bubblegum, bread dough and passion fruit. The flavor was tangy and sweet sugar, golden fruits, bubblegum, bread dough and passion fruit. Long tangy sugar, passion fruit and golden fruit finish. Only a touch boozy with a moderately thick and full body. Quite nice.

Thanks, Jeff! Interesting to try this hybrid, to see where the Funky ones go with a slightly different style. Wasnít quite up to the level of others Iíve had from them but still quite solid. Lustrous honey gold pour with a boisterous head, consistent carbonation and lacing. Nose was quite yeasty indeed, with the tartness of raw yeast evoking citrus, back up by some grain and spice. Could have use a bit more in the way of hopping to dry it out a bit and give it balance, as the tastes stuck just a bit too much in the honey/tartness corner for me. But the finish redeemed things, bitter and lengthy.

Out of the bottle: Itís bright, straw golden in color, hazy, with well sustained, fluffy, sticky white head. Aromas of lemon, citrus, caramel, some booze and biscuit. It tastes sort of like a Saison, but not as dry. Itís tart and fairly sweet, but not nearly as sweet as a trippel. The carbonation is adequate. Holds up fairly well as it warms, with tartness falling back a bit. GREAT BREW!

Bright and very pale yellow with a rocky white head. Lemon and chalky yeast aroma - tart and lactic. Initial sweetness is quicky walloped by that tartness and a bone dry, fully attenuated finish, like chewing on Meyer lemon rind. Tastes as if they snuck some New Zealand hops in there. Evident alcohol. Highly carbonated, but mercifully, less than the benchmark - Duvel, and the lemon notes are an interesting addition. I believe the student has surpassed the master.

Itís clear why this beer won gold at gabf. Elegantly done in an in-elegant category from a brewery that specializes in doing elegant styles better than the benchmarks of their original countries. Also, why are all these ratings from Denmark? Didnít Funkwerks just recently make it to Nebraska? Snag a bottle, the Danes are incorrect.

Capped 750 from LetsPour. Pours dishwater gold with a 3 finger creamy white head. Aroma of mildly sourish citrus. Full bodied. Flavor is citrous/lemon, some lightly bready malt, and some arguable Belgian yeast/spice. Certainly fruity esters. Banana? Maybe not. Finishes on the dry, lightly tart, mildly earthy side. Thereís a bite to it. Tasty enough.
