3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20 NobleSquirrel (2677) - Chicago, USA - OCT 8, 2011
Draft at Funkwerks. Pours a full and rounded bronze with an offwhite head. Nose is a bit peculiar. There is a strong phenolic component but also some floral and fruity notes that aren’t yeast based. Soft malt notes, bread crust as well. On tasting, the phenolics are just not working for me, somewhat numbing across the palate and distracting. The tartness of the hibiscus does little to save this one. Not really a fan.

Draft at Backcountry. One previous reviewer said this looked like floor cleaner and they’re not far. This is the Eleanor Roosevelt of beers. But it has a floral quality on the nose and goes down pretty easy with a touch of sourness on the finish.

On tap at the Funkwerks tap room in Ft. Collins, CO. Dark orange pour with a light off-white head. Floral aroma upfront with obvious funkiness underneath. The floral accent is nicely undercut by the normal bitterness found in a saison. The combination is really quite good. An outstanding saison.
