COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Leuven was produced similar to a Berliner Weisse. After running the wort off into the kettle, we seeded with lactobacillus overnight. We then added Saison yeast and Brett C to the fermenter. The result is a refreshing tart saison with a massive citruy pineapple aroma with a hint of apple and clove. The flavor is noticeably tart without being overly sour. More pineapple and citrus flavors give way to a bit of earthy wet hay at the finish.

This is a tough style to comment as it always seems to be a wanna-be sour. The aroma was fruity. The appearance was really unique in how light and clear it was with little head. The fruit flavors were present and probably more apple than pineapple. The Brett did add some funkiness, which I’m not sure was needed. Worth a try but not one of my favorites from this brewery.

Earthy Brett, sweet malt, tart fruit aroma and flavor. An earthy, musty, kind of "hair salon" character in the aroma; lighter in the flavor. Sweetness gets mildly cloying. Gush-tastic, and really carbonated.

Milky yellow pour with a white head. The aroma has some wheat and grain notes as well as some lemons and yeast. The flavor is a great mix of yeast, lemons, light funk and biscuit malt. Medium carbonation and thin mouthfeel.

Bottle... Poured a pale yellow with a moderate head. Nice yeast and earthiness here with mild acidity. Overall, I thought this was way too dry and over attenuated which seemed to slash any complexity that would build up on the palate.

Bottle shared by "BVC". Colour.. Almost as clear as water but a bit of haze and a thin white head. Nose...yeasty and lightly bretty with lemon zest and grapefruit pith. Palate...quite similar to the nose but very frothy! The finish is lengthy though not complex.

750mL shared at SDBW kickoff. Pours a full haze white color with low foam. Mose is rosemary, lavender, fresh peach, nectarine, spicy grapefruit. Taste is white pepper, mild acid, very light body in the grisette area. Clean, light, doughy body. Not really that tart at all. More Grisette.

Bottle from brewery. Gusher. Pour is very very foamy. Beer is a light, very cloudy pale yellow. Aroma and flavor a light apple, grapefruit, hay, and faint spice. Light and drinkable. Good beer.
