COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our goal at Funkwerks is to make good beer for our customers. Our intention was not to disrespect the Māori people or their culture in naming our Māori King beer. Out of respect, we are re-branding this beer as Tropic King. This is our new Imperial Saison! Bursting with a lot of fruity tropical characteristics of passionfruit, mango, and peach from the New Zealand Rakau hops we used. Combined with the pepper and Ginger flavors produced by our house yeast, this is a flavor extravaganza.

hazy golden color. Thick frothy white head. Dry black pepper, oranges, licorice, med full body. Dry. Very hoppy. Like a Belgian IPA with more funk. Fantastic.

sample at big texas beerfest Transparent gold, shimmering puffy white head. Pine, soap, lemon rule the nose. Flavor is yeasty, thick, peppery with zippy carbonation and lightly frothy bitterness, soapy and overall dry, nicely attenuated to allow softer elements to play. A bit too yeasty, not quite dry or funky enough, not much fruit either, but pleasant

Bottle. Pours a foggy, fizzy golden color with a thick, frothy white head. Delightful, citrus aroma with a grassy finish. Passionfruit flavor. Mangos and kiwis. A little pepper and ginger in the finish. Really solid saison.

On tap at The Pour House. Cloudy light pour with a big white head. Aroma is a good bit of fruit and yeasty funk with a little alcohol. Taste is a little hot, lots of fruit, baking spice, and banana. Peppery, yeasty finish.

Good saison -- but I think that there’s a reason why you don’t see too many imperials. This burns a bit hot.

This my be my first beer considered an Imperial Saison. That title seems a little strange to be honest since most saisons I have are on the lighter, more seasonable side. Light pour. Floral aroma. Sweet and crisp flavor, light body. A little yeast and spice. Light fruits but I didn’t taste the tropical variety.
