Our goal at Funkwerks is to make good beer for our customers. Our intention was not to disrespect the Māori people or their culture in naming our Māori King beer. Out of respect, we are re-branding this beer as Tropic King. This is our new Imperial Saison! Bursting with a lot of fruity tropical characteristics of passionfruit, mango, and peach from the New Zealand Rakau hops we used. Combined with the pepper and Ginger flavors produced by our house yeast, this is a flavor extravaganza.

Draft. Gently hazed apricot hue with a head sticky and white as marshmallow fluff. Aroma is a nice balance of fruity esters and spicy phenols -- white pepper, clove, ginger, lilac, dried lemon peel, sweet pear. The flavor adds a bitter herbal character almost like dried flower petals along with a splash of orange and alcohol. Finishes nicely balanced and dry, with lingering floral bitterness.

Bottle, shared. Pours a slightly hazy copper color with a moderate white head on there. Nose has some hops to it, with some grassy and floral elements as well as a nice bit of funk. Taste is slightly sour up front, but drinks very fresh and has a pleasant bite to it. Very solid saison.

330. Pours a slightly hazy dark gold with a loose white head. Huge grassy nose. Creamy medium body with wooly carb. Tangy mango and grass mid palate. Long mildly fruity finish.

Bomber - pours a cloudy golden orange with a thick fluffy head that sticks. Great complexity for a saison. Lots of subtle fruit flavors with the backbone of a wheat beer. Long finish of banana and papaya accompanied by a mild bitterness and clove note.

hazy golden color. Thick frothy white head. Dry black pepper, oranges, licorice, med full body. Dry. Very hoppy. Like a Belgian IPA with more funk. Fantastic.

sample at big texas beerfest Transparent gold, shimmering puffy white head. Pine, soap, lemon rule the nose. Flavor is yeasty, thick, peppery with zippy carbonation and lightly frothy bitterness, soapy and overall dry, nicely attenuated to allow softer elements to play. A bit too yeasty, not quite dry or funky enough, not much fruit either, but pleasant
