COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our goal at Funkwerks is to make good beer for our customers. Our intention was not to disrespect the Māori people or their culture in naming our Māori King beer. Out of respect, we are re-branding this beer as Tropic King. This is our new Imperial Saison! Bursting with a lot of fruity tropical characteristics of passionfruit, mango, and peach from the New Zealand Rakau hops we used. Combined with the pepper and Ginger flavors produced by our house yeast, this is a flavor extravaganza.

Pale, hazy golden pour. Fairly smooth and rounded with more buttery characteristics and malt notes than you might find in a traditional saison.

Bottle via trade. Pours out a cloudy orange/amber color with a moderate white head. Aroma is of fruity yeast, light tropical fruit hops, passion fruit an guava with a mild acidic bitterness. Taste is complex, fruity dry Saison yeast, tropical fruit hops, grass, light berry, some earthy pepper notes and a mild bitterness on a somewhat dry finish.

Bottle shared by Dean during the Super Bowl. Poured a hazy light orange body with a huge long lasting mostly white foamy head. Aroma, although decent, was loaded with over sugary fruit notes. Lots of tropical fruits, mango, apricot, peach, pineapple, nectarine, sugar and a touch of spice. Rather full body with strong carbonation and a spicy finish. Flavor was tropical fruits, spice, wet bread, a touch of menthol and some bubble gum.

750 ml bottle served in a Half Acre snifter. Thank to pmoney for the share. A: Pours a deep hazy amber color with a frothy white head forming on the pour. It recedes slowly with great head retention. Sticky sheets of lace are left down the glass. S: Spicy yeast notes and big citrus orange juice dominate the nose. A banana bread-like sweetness takes over on the backend. T: Spicy Belgian yeast. Fruity esters with a light banana presence and a ton of orange juice pulp flavor. Some light musty notes and a touch of grainy malt sweetness. Orange zest with some mineral-like qualities to the finish. M: Sweet and musty finish with a medium light body. Drying finish with a medium carbonation level. O: I enjoyed the juicy and zesty-like qualities of this one. I’d definitely try this one again. Serving type: bottle

750 ml bottle from adnielsen. Thanks, Aaron. Pours a mellow hazed golden hue, some sunshine hues glow. A bit white head atop dies to a small layer, laces small. Aromas offer funk, straw, and grass. A bigger waft of fruit into the equation with some melon, apple, pear, and citrus. Gentle doughy malts start to come out, cereal, some tangerine, citrus, and melon. Initial is a bit bigger, touches of sweet grains mix with fruit, tropical fruit, melon, and citrusy lemon. Gentle dryness, middle shows the malt heft, more fruit as we trail out into a more dry and bitter backend, a touch hoppy bitterness, dry hay and grass, florals. Lots of fruit elements, gentle yeast. A bit of an odd bag. I’d probably like it more with a smaller malt bill.

Hazy golden color with a medium sized, white head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of vanilla, toasty yeast, tropical, citrus fruits, and light spices. Taste of toast, light sweetness, tons of citrus and tropical fruits, semi sweet finish.

Pours beautifully with a hazy blonde light orange body and quite large creamy white head. The aroma bring dry tropcial fruits and fresh saison yeast. Flavor is dry as well bringing some spicy saison yeast and a very bubbly body.
