COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our goal at Funkwerks is to make good beer for our customers. Our intention was not to disrespect the Māori people or their culture in naming our Māori King beer. Out of respect, we are re-branding this beer as Tropic King. This is our new Imperial Saison! Bursting with a lot of fruity tropical characteristics of passionfruit, mango, and peach from the New Zealand Rakau hops we used. Combined with the pepper and Ginger flavors produced by our house yeast, this is a flavor extravaganza.

Clean soft blonde pour with an off white head. Fruity aroma with some tropical notes and a bready/yeasty component. Citrusy notes and a peppery bready flavor. Light bodied with a soft carbonation and dry finish.

(old entry on my phone) On draft at the brewery. Slightly hazy orange pour. Tropical nose, malty and citrusy. Nice mouthfeel, funky, fruity and clear. Very nice!

Banana esters, hearty Brett, cloves, overly sweet. Minimally sour, kinda heavy on the yeast, not the most complex. Meh.

Almost reminds me of a Belgian blond or trippel more than a saison. Aroma of floral hops, light coriander. Pours golden clear with good head and lacing. Pepper and light lime as well. Finishes with faint sweetness. Nice package, just off for saison. Thanks to Sammy.

Lacy. Carbonation right there. Spicy with pepper, alcohol. The saison characteristics come out in the finish. Some hops. Mild fruit aroma. Good drinkability. Bottle from Jason B.

Pours an orange-gold with bubbly off white head that sticks around for awhile. Aromas of passion fruit, pepper, ginger, and a hint of yeast. It is a real sweet smell followed by some pepper/spice. Taste is sweet at first with passion fruit and mango follow by pepper. There is some booze-y warmth here; it is hidden well and is barely noticeable but it’s there. Overall, this is one of the better saisons I have had.

Hazy amber pour, massive head. Funk and spice aroma. Yeast, passionfruit, pepper, slightly boozy.

750 ml bottle shared with the group. Pours a hazy orange amber color with a medium plus sized off white head. The aroma and flavor have sweet malts, yeast, tropical fruits and some lighter peppers and ginger. Pretty good. The label had already been changed to Tropic King which was disappointing.

Pours a light hazy orange yellow. I was slightly disappointed in this because of its lofty rating. Some tropical notes in the aroma and flavour.. But otherwise it was fairly average.

Capped 750 from LetsPour.com. Pours translucent gold with a creamy white head. Aroma is earthy/spicy multiple fruits. Full bodied. Flavor is earthy/spicy multiple fruits. I’d say it’s much more tropical fruit than anything else. Fruit wise. The rest is earthy, approaching barnyard. Love the ginger notes. Finishing so complex that I will not attempt the details. Lovely, lovely, ale.
