Named after a distinctive New Zealand hop, this single-hop saison has a subtle aroma of white grapes and a hint of spice from our house saison yeast. An addition of Muscat grape must during fermentation plays into the grape aromas from the hops and helps dry out the finish. This dry, refreshing saison pairs perfectly with warm weather!

Sampled at the brewery. The aroma is yeasty, fruity, hoppy notes, musty. The flavor is juicy fruits, musty, slightly spicy, tropical fruit notes, grape. Solid.

Pour on tap at the brewery, hazy orange-yellow pour with white head, aroma brought nice pineapple, mango, orange, grapefruit, juicy citrus into some slight biscuit and cracker, a nice zesty and spicy note helps to balance it. Taste is a mix of sweet pineapple, mango, hints of lemon zest, nice grapefruit into zesty and spicy hops, nice cracker and biscuit notes, finishing fairly spicy, nice and dry, slight fruit notes come back. Well done.

Slightly skunky nose but doesn’t come through on the flavor. The funk and Nelson is a great combo. Sourdough bread, earthy but all are lead by the nelson hops. Very interesting.

(Draught during GABF 2013 at brewery) cloudy gold, fine white bubbles, excellent lacing and thick meringue-like head. Nose is a bit skunky, spicy Belgian yeast characteristics, light vanilla, lemon peel zest. Refreshing and well carbonated. Almost bone dry.

At Funkwerks! Pours neon yellow tinted orange. Aroma is flora hops and farmhouse fruit juice, nice big nose. Taste is light belgium farmhouse yeast mild floral hops and a little funk.

On tap @ Funkwerks. Hazy golden pour with a white head. Really tropical fruit. Big melon, pineapple, and passion fruit. Straw, light spice, and a subtle citrus tartness. Flavor is melon, passion fruit, and tart citrus. Nice spice, yeast, and pineapple.

Draft at the brewery. Pours a hazy pale gold with a medium eggshell colored head. Aroma of lemon, funk, sweet malts, dough, and floral notes. Flavor of lemon, peach, funk, orange, and floral notes. Some of the Muscat grapes come through after a while. Light-medium bodied, with a funky, juicy mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. Nice summery saison.

Bottle poured into Funkwerks snifter. Color is hazy gold with a very large white head. Aroma is light lemon, light bubblegum hops, faint hay, light spice, and faint pale malt. Flavor is lightly spicy with hints of lemon, bubblegum, and light hay. Straight forward and easy to drink.

From the brewery, this pours a hazy straw into the glass, with an immense ivory head that keeps an inch-thick head throughout, leaving chunky lace down the Trappist glass. The nose has nice yeasty esters, fruit and doughy notes. Flavors have lots of lemon, grains, wheat and hay, finishing with a grassy note. The light body is very active with carbonation, but has enough substance to provide complexities. The lemony barnyard effervescence goes on for days. A quaffable brew, this is very tasty and perfect for the summer! I am so glad to have made Funkwerks a stop on my Colorado brew tour! Simply gorgeous brewing here, with a real handle on the Belgian style.
