COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Belgian-Style Ale
Inspired by the sessionable German Berliner Weisse, we followed tradition and allowed the wort to mature overnight with lactobacillus. The next day it was boiled and transferred to the fermentor where we added a Belgian wheat yeast strain famous for fruity flavors and a dry finish. The result is a highly carbonated and refreshingly tart summer beer with a citrusy pineapple aroma. These aromas carry through in to the flavor leading to a dry but tart finish. This unfiltered ale is best consumed fresh- it will not continue to sour with age and is not recommended for cellaring.

750 ml bottle. Pours slightly hazy yellow gold with a big meringue like white head that retains well and leaves some lacing.

The aroma is wheaty malts with some lemon peel and some earthy yeast and a little soapiness.

The flavor is sweet fruity wheat malts with a slight tart twang at the finish. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with soft carbonation.

Overall, a nice soft fruity wheat with some tart sourness. A nice lighter beer, but a bit pricey to buy much of.

On tap @ Mayor of Old Town. Pale straw color with a white head. Light herbal aroma, some tart lemon, yeast, and a hint of salt. Nice citrus, cedar, and spice. Good tartness to the flavor. Yeast, lemon, and a hint of salt. Herbs, cedar, and spice. Maybe some orange.

Tap @ The Mayor of Old Town. Pours a hazy yellow appearance with a white head. Tangy lemon, vanilla, a bit funky, a bit juicy, wheat aroma. Flavor is lightly tart, a bit herbal, lemon, citrusy, and fairly dry. Not one of my favorites from these guys but not bad.

Falling Rock Taphouse, Denver tap: Pours light yellow with a white head. Aroma is slightly funked up, wheat, and lactoness. Not sour in the taste, but a tad lactic. Not really grassy like a saison. Yeasty and a bit funky. Light and easy to drink. Not really my favourite, but a good beer with a uniqueness factor.

Draught at Max & Joes
Pours a hazy blond with a big white head and good lacing on the glass.

The aroma is very faint, earthy and spicy... enjoyable enough... but there’s not much going on.

The flavor is funky, minerally & dry, there is some pear and some tartness, again what’s there is nice but it’s all really subdued... nothing bright, nothing much to latch on to.

I really wanted to like this a lot... and I liked it enough, but it sort of fell short on many accounts.

Thanks to my awesome wife for beer shopping for me while she was in Colorado. The beer is pale yellow / golden with a soft white head. Aromas of farmhouse funk, lemons and misc. tart citrus, floral hops, and grassy notes. Drinks as much or more like a farmhouse saison than a Berliner. Lemon meringue. Sweet but balanced by a delicate tart character. Lots of flavor and gracefully balanced. Light to medium in body with moderately low carbonation. Solid.
