This delicious creation was truly a product of creativity, ingenuity and luck. In the summer of 2013 we took a test batch of our sessional sour summer ale, Provincial, that didnít quite hit gravity, and decided to have some fun with it! We added a heavy dose of raspberries. The end result was so delicious, we decided to recreate it! This delightfully tart fruit beer is refreshing, with a citrusy raspberry aroma which transitions to a subtlety sweet and tart finish. Notes of lemon zest and tart raspberries.

Poured a nice pinkish to red with a white head. Aroma was raspberry juice and lemony sourness. Flavor similar, pretty 1 note, but an easy drinker.

Cloudy golden raspberry color. Good head. Aroma is a little tart, golden malt, and hints of raspberry. Itís not too sour. Itís cool and balanced and full flavored but very sessionable. Not weak on flavor and not heavy in body. A solid brew.

September 2nd, 2014 - Funkwerksí Raspberry Provincial is a brown and red beer, more red than brown, giving it a nice blush that suggests a fruit beer style. The nose is lovely, pressing with cotton candy, peach, raspberries and cherries, with a lightness and airiness that is bright and lucid. The palate is light and delicate, and at first, almost flavorless. But the gentle fizz parts to reveal a glimpse of pomegranate. It is not enough to engage, but enough to refresh. Save this for sweltering afternoons. Any demand for flavor will be met with disappointment.

Keg at Flying Saucer. It pours cloudy deep pink - red with a tiny white head. The aroma is fresh, sweet - sour, juicy raspberry, funk, sherbet and minerals. The taste is crisp, tart, sour fresh raspberries, lemon peel, granny smith apple, lactic tang and sherbet with a dry finish. Medium body and moderate, prickly carbonation. A pretty solid raspberry sour.

Shared 11.2 oz. bottle. Pours a pinkish-red with a light pink head. Aroma of funk and raspberry. Taste is raspberry, funk, mildly tart, sweet, hints of white wine. Reminded me of a fruit-flavored wine cooler. Okay.

On tap at Funkwerks. Pours pretty red with a short pink head and a raspberry aroma. There is a rich raspberry flavor with a delicate yet tart finish. If you like raspberry, you will love this one.

Aroma: all raspberry and vanilla; Appearance: cloudy pink pour with thin, white head that dissipates quickly; Taste: very sweet with a little tartness, but not as much as expected; Palate: light bodied with long, sweet finish; Overall: pretty good if youíre in the mood for raspberry soda.

This is one of my favorites. I'm stoked every time I see it on a drink list. Sour and tart and sweet and perfect.

Bottle. Tonightís theme is pink beers. Itís dark pink with a high, mixed-grained, lacy, mashed-potato head. Nose is pungently raspberry with floral and citrus notes; it smells like real raspberries, not like candy. On the tongue, it starts out gentle, so gentle that I wondered where everything was -- then the sour and the berry kicks in. Itís a delayed reaction beer; it never gets terribly sour, but itís refreshing and bright and carries a lot of fruit very well. Really clean and not at all heavy. Definitely a lighter sour; very nice.
