This delicious creation was truly a product of creativity, ingenuity and luck. In the summer of 2013 we took a test batch of our sessional sour summer ale, Provincial, that didnít quite hit gravity, and decided to have some fun with it! We added a heavy dose of raspberries. The end result was so delicious, we decided to recreate it! This delightfully tart fruit beer is refreshing, with a citrusy raspberry aroma which transitions to a subtlety sweet and tart finish. Notes of lemon zest and tart raspberries.

Shared 11.2 oz. bottle. Pours a pinkish-red with a light pink head. Aroma of funk and raspberry. Taste is raspberry, funk, mildly tart, sweet, hints of white wine. Reminded me of a fruit-flavored wine cooler. Okay.

On tap at Funkwerks. Pours pretty red with a short pink head and a raspberry aroma. There is a rich raspberry flavor with a delicate yet tart finish. If you like raspberry, you will love this one.

Aroma: all raspberry and vanilla; Appearance: cloudy pink pour with thin, white head that dissipates quickly; Taste: very sweet with a little tartness, but not as much as expected; Palate: light bodied with long, sweet finish; Overall: pretty good if youíre in the mood for raspberry soda.

This is one of my favorites. I'm stoked every time I see it on a drink list. Sour and tart and sweet and perfect.

Bottle. Tonightís theme is pink beers. Itís dark pink with a high, mixed-grained, lacy, mashed-potato head. Nose is pungently raspberry with floral and citrus notes; it smells like real raspberries, not like candy. On the tongue, it starts out gentle, so gentle that I wondered where everything was -- then the sour and the berry kicks in. Itís a delayed reaction beer; it never gets terribly sour, but itís refreshing and bright and carries a lot of fruit very well. Really clean and not at all heavy. Definitely a lighter sour; very nice.

From provincial mix pack...maybe my favorite. Pretty purple red color, sweet, fruity, nicely tart, totally crushable. Summer perfection.

Pours a cloudy light orangish pinkish color with very lightly pink tinted head. Funk, tartness, and raspberries on the nose; follows onto the palate. Light bodied and bubbly on the palate. Finishes tart and dry with plenty of raspberry fruit.

A steady pour produces an eight-finger thick light tan colored head that I have to suck foam off of quickly, & repeatedly in order to not have it foam over the sides of my glass. The beer is a pale pink tinged, amber color that shows a hazed, golden tinged version of the same when held up to the light. The aroma smells of floral raspberries, a touch of hibiscus, as well as a solid backing of pale-nutty, cracker like malt character.

The beer is fairly tart, but not overly sour, and has a tart raspberry flavor to it that is a bit floral, a touch tannic, but definitely with a ripe fruitiness. The fruit character is a bit muted since the beer is quite dry. It is also light bodied, with an effervescent carbonation, and a clean finish that is helped along by the acidity. The malt character is not quite as noticeable as it is in the nose, but does add a soft, rounded, cracker like maltiness, and perhaps a touch of whole grain bread character.

This is quite clean in its character and is certainly a Sour beer, more so than something wild. With its clean fermentation character, this is clearly a fruit focused beer; it is dry, supportingly tart, and works as is, I wish this was the standard for simplistic fruit beers (rather than the non-sour, sweet, wheat beer based that started the fruit trend in the 90s).
