COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our award winning Belgian-style golden ale Deceit was aged in oak rum barrels for 8 months to produce this strong yet deceptively smooth brew. This beer pours a beautiful golden color with alluring aromas of fresh apple and crisp white wine. Spicy notes in the flavor are complimented by tantalizing and complex characteristics pulled from the oak barrels. Slight fruit notes balance these elaborate flavors and transition into a dry and inviting finish.

Bottle - Vintage 2012 - Lots of funk and stone fruit with sweet rum notes. Cloudy gold with a decent white head. Funky stone fruit, rum sweetness and a touch of booze. Not bad.

Pours a slightly hazy golden color with a white head with good retention and decent lacing. Banana and clove aroma from the belgian yeast along with some light fruit and some oak. The rum is apparent in the taste and gives a candied quality to the fruit flavors. Also some nice oak flavor along with some spiciness and a little booze. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. A good sipper with a nice level of complexity and flavor.

Bottle. Straw-colored, straw-hazed. Two big fingers of pure white froth. The nose has the usual notes of saison -- Belgian pear, red apple and white pepper -- but here they’re mixed with deeper, richer rum notes: oak, caramel, cane sugar. A very slight hint of vinegar, too. The flavor differs: more oak, bright pear and baked apple, with buttery oak and funky rum beneath. Booze is subtle -- just enough to add a wild twist. Soft, medium-light body; light, silky carbonation; tiny massaging bubbles. Alcohol is far too well-hidden; I’m drunk. Delicious and interesting. A good tweak on a solidly done classic.

Tasted on 2/7/14 from bottle at the Friday night tasting at RBWG Asheville, thanks to Aaron Nielsen for sharing. Pours cloudy pale yellow with an average white head that slowly recedes to average lace. The nose is yeasty caramel with some spice, and vanilla rum underlying. The flavor is the same spicy yeast with a hint of caramel and vanilla rum. The body is medium with lively carbonation and a long spicy yeast and rum finish.

Taster from a 750ml bottle. Hazy off-white head. Just some loose dots of lace. Nice, floral, moderately yeasty nose. Zesty spicy taste. Moderate sweet, light bitter. Medium to bigger body. Smooth, lighter carbonation, lightly soft. Lightly slick texture. Mild rum character, but good.

bottle. pours a clear golden with a thick lasting white head. oak in the nose, with what i found to be a strong cake batter nose, sugary, vanilla and inviting. great flavor, strong sweetness, that worked with the almost tobacco like oak flavors. thick but not cloying mouthfeel. touch of raw wood in the finish was the only drawback. loved that through most of this the rum barrel was in the background just helping to round out and emphasize the base beer’s fruitiness and warming alcohol.

Pour out of 750 mL bottle, dark brownish pour with fluffy slightly yellow head, aroma brought notes of big vanilla, oak, rum notes into a bit of caramel, toffee, slight yeast and spice in there with a touch of dark fruits. Taste is a mix of dark fruit, slight earth and yeast into some oak, vanilla, and rum, finishing fairly sweet.
