750ml bottle, blue label. Pours a hazy straw led with some cloudy white head. Nose of grass, coriander, lemon peel, yeast, otherwise clean. Sweet, malty, grassy, light lemon, light bread, some pepper. Light, dry finish. Standard.

I’ve been apprehensive about trying this since they jacked up the abv with the recipe change and, IMO, their products tend to suffer when they do this - for example, the Tropic King suffered a significant decline when it went from 7% to 8% (I really need to Rerate that beer) - anyway - this one pours awfully fizzy - looks over carbonated - head dissipates almost completely, despite the constant effervescing on the surface of the beer - nose is quite sweet, with soft wheat malt notes, strong lemon, ginger and other spices, a bit of a mineral note underneath - definitely over carbonated - lots of abrasive bubbles filling the mouth - flavor is medium dry - a lot of tangy citrus flavors - chamomile is still pretty evident, like the original - some ginger and peppery spice on the tail end - alcohol is far too evident in the finish - not at all refreshing, as the original was - some redeeming qualities, but overall it is a bit harsh on the palate - yup, it is as I feared - they should have stuck with the original recipe.

Aroma is citrus (maybe orange peel) right away followed by spiciness and a little bitter. Taste is bitter up front, followed by more orange and a touch of belgian yeast. The finish is quite dry and biting.

750 ml bottle purchased at Joy in Denver, Colorado. Bottle #1047 of 2100, blue label, 6.8% ABV, so this is the 2012 version. The pour is mostly a clear yellow golden with a one inch white head that falls pretty quick. The aroma is fresh lemon citrus, soft hay, natural wheat grain, and a clove spice yeast. The taste is the nose, nice amount of hay, lemon citrus and wheat and the shows a nice clean earth mineral in the finish. The palate is light bodied, crisp carbonation and a natural mouth feel. Really refreshing beer, great example of the style.

On tap at root down in Denver. This is a solid white; reminded me a lot of allagash white. But a bit of funk on the end. Not as well rounded as allagash, though. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. The pour was a murky pale yellow with an average sized (1-2 finger) white creamy head that reduced to a thin cap, which produced excellent sheets of lacing. The aroma was of a mild bread malt with a strong presence of a funky horse blanket Belgian yeast and had notes of citrus (lemon peel), coriander and some light fruity esters (banana and apple). The taste was rather yeasty with a mild hint of a fruit from the onset and finished with a strong wheat flavor that had notes of coriander and a mild citrus peel bitterness. The flavor lasted only a short while after the initial swallow with a nice spicy yeast taste that hung on a bit longer. Mouthfeel was light in body and somewhat watery in texture with a solid medium carbonation. Overall a fantastic Witbier that possessed a nice mild spicy citrus presence along with a light and enticing fruitiness. Simply enjoyable...

Pour out of 750 mL bottle, slightly hazy orange-yellow with fluffy white head, aroma brought notes of lemon, some grassy vanilla, some fruity notes, hints of earth, slight spice notes with coriander come through, some slight grainy notes as well. Taste is a mix of coriander, tart fruits, some spice with earth, some lemon and fruity notes, touch of biscuit and bread finishing fairly sweet but dries out. This is definitely better because its hot outside, but I think this is a downgrade of the earlier type.

750 ml. bottle. 0914 of 2100. Pours a thick, rapidly collapsing white head, with a bit of lacing, over a slightly hazy, yellow (SRM 3) body.....nose is ginger, citrus......taste is citrus, primarily lemon, orange, hints of coriander, ginger, with vegetal tones, finishing very slightly dry....mouth feel light, carbonation makes a nice tingle, and foamy mouthful. This is a different Witbier. The ABV is much too high and the various flavors bounce off of each other in an inharmonious way. The result is a somewhat clunky creation, that is not light and refreshing that is characteristic of the style. BJCP 7/3/12/4/6

Bottle. Head is initially large, frothy/fizzy, white, mostly diminishing. Body is hazy light to medium yellow, bottle conditioned. Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (toasted grain, cereal), lightly hoppy (herbs), with notes of raw ginger, chamomile, lemon zest, alcohol (somewhat fusel, insecticide-like). Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter. Light to medium body, watery texture, fizzy carbonation. Well, they messed this one up, doggone it. And here I bought this thinking the brewer had stopped using the repulsive chamomile addition (the label mentions nothing of it anymore), but alas, it’s still there. The ginger is too strong, and quite medicinal. Malt character is a little clunky, a bit cereal-ish/vegetal. And why has this been pumped up to near "double wit" ABV? You can even smell the alcohol now, and it’s not a clean ETOH smell...it’s like bug spray. Really sad.

Poured a pale, slightly hazy straw color, with a bright white head that quickly dissipated. Smell is biscuit, yeast, spice/pepper, lemon zest, light grapefruit, and orange. Taste is bread, biscuit, spice, yeast, lemon tartness, and some saffron. Mouthfeel is light with high carbonation. Overall, just a very refreshing beer and was wonderful on this hot summer night.
