Big thanks to Ryan for sharing this with us before it’s even released. When the guys at the Buddha make a "apple pie" beer you expect it to taste just like an apple pie and that’s exactly what they did. This is by far one of the best creations they’ve come up with thus far. Incredible aroma and flavor, apple pie all the way. Wouldn’t change a thing about this beer.

I wasn’t sure what to expect from this beer. I am not a fan of Apple in my drinks, but this beer certainly made me re-evaluate my taste. The nose is gorgeous, it captures the intoxicating scent of Apple Pie. It opens with Apple on the front, but blossoms to cinnamon and carmel as it comes to its finish. The balance of this is remarkable, and despite my initial thoughts that this would be a heavy thick drinking beer, it was medium bodied with complexity that kept manifesting throughout the offering.

Fantastic. Was really surprised by this one. Not a big fan of fruit beer, but this was terrific. Huge! cinnamon apple raisin nose. Flavor like drinking an apple pie with extra caramel and cinnamon, very bready. Awesome awesome beer! Too bad Funky Buddha doesn’t do growlers. If you have not been to FB brewery/lounge and you live in Florida, you should definitely go. Relaxing chill place with some great unique beer.

Funky Buddha has done it again. Bonita Applebum is, simply put, dessert in a glass. All the familiar aromas and spices of apple pie - cinnamon, nutmeg, buttery crust, apple (obviously), along with just the right amount of alcohol. The slight apple tartness plays well with the spice and a low-key sweetness and its all reminiscent of caramel apple pie. They’d be insane not to eventually offer this as a float with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, but the beer itself needs no improvement. The only downside to me is that apple-cinnamon is not my favorite flavor profile so it’s not as easy for me to drink more than one glass like I would with many of their other beers. The geniuses at Funky Buddha have received national attention for their Maple Bacon Coffee Porter and No Crusts PB&J ale, and Bonita should be the next huge hit.

Ridiculous beer (in a good way!). Fruit in the Room 2011. Smelled amazing! Loads of cinnamon apple sauce, grainy malt, an indescribable sweetness, and some raisins. Reminded me of a well made apple cobbler. Spot on for sure. Poured a dark brown and light brown head. Tasted fantastic like apple pie a la mode. This one had loads of spice and some apple fruitiness that was incredibly pleasing to the palate. How do they do this??

This apple pie beer tastes and smells exactly like apple pie. I think that is all that needs to be said, pretty impressive.

Draft at tapestry with Vinny and Scott during PBW. Pours a deep, murky brown body with thin off white lacing. Aroma is straight up apple pie, cinnamon, and crust. Mouthfeel is medium with notes of apple cider, apple pie, cinnamon, nutmeg and crust.

Wow, had at Cigar City fruit in the room. Aroma is cinnamon and apples. Tastes like as if you went to applebees and get the apple crisp and the left over syrup with icecream was left. You know how you scrape the iron skillet to get the last vanillia icecream, apple cinnamon syrup... well that is this beer pretty amazing...

On draft at the HI. Pours a deep honey caramel amber with a medium sized off white head. Beautiful aroma of apple cinnamon strudel, warm apple crumb pie and a hint of nutmeg. Taste is dominated by apple cinnamon delight. Excellent stuff.

A near perfect beer. The base beer for this is Doc Brown. Beer’s actual name is Bonita Applebaum. Pours a very murky kinda ugly looking brown with a big creamy foamy head. The nose is ridiculous, fresh baked apples and cinnamon with a tough of biscuit and nutmeg. The flavor profile is where you get a bit of a problem but its very slight. Huge baked apples and cinnamon up front, big thick creamy mouthfeel, this tastes almost nothing like the base beer, its just super thick and creamy. The only thing I don’t like is it finishes with a bit of odd tannic bitterness, but the apple finish keeps it from being annoying. Still the bitterness doesn’t really fit with this beer, other than that its amazing.
