On draft at Funky Buddha. This one has some nice chocolate notes to it but doesn’t overpower the raspberry flavor either. Not as sour as their berliner beers so this might be a good sour beer for a newbie.

Draft... Cloudy prune-colored ale with no head. The nose is roasty, earthy and acidic. To mention chocolate would be a stretch, but there’s definitely a mild raspberry component here. Medium-bodied with lively carbonation. The flavor is sour, but also presents roasty and earthy notes. Tart, underripe, red raspberries in the finish. Nice.

Pours cola brown with an aroma of chocolate and raspberry. Chocolate flavor up front with raspberry undercurrent with a reasonable tart finish. Really liked this one.

On tap at the Blue Dog (Lansdale). Poured a dark brown with an averaged sized head. Chocolate, raspberries, some woody/earthiness, and vanilla. Lighter to medium tart finish.

Pours thicky, murky dark brown without much carbonation. The aroma is my favorite part. There are rich, delicious chocolate and raspberry cocoa notes so nice in the nose. The flavor brings much more of a berliner weisse profile with pleasant chocolate up front and some raspberry in the background as it fades.

UPDATED: FEB 22, 2013 First! On tap. Pours blackish purple, with pinkish hued head, medium in size, didn’t last. Not much lacing. Aromas and taste are in your face sour fruit berliner, sour dough, raspberry puree, oak, cocoa, passionfruit, nacho cheese combos, vanilla, yeast and black raspberry. Puckery sourness, medium body. Excellent.
