We blended this English-style barleywine with grape must for a distinct, vinous character that pairs well with slow braised dishes or acoustic folk rock. Notes of plum, pear, grape, red wine, fig, honey, and rock candy blend into a complex, slow sipper.

Wow, this was much better than the rating shows. Pour clearer amber in color. There is no resiny maltiness to take over, but a smooth lightly sweetened malty barleywine bringing the fruit and fig notes as promised. So smooth on the palate for ten percent, not quite a creamy body, but a balanced body perfect for the style and so easy to drink!

Dark clear amber color, good creamy beige head. Light fruity, malty, sweetish nose. Medium-bodied. Berries, caramel, alcohol in the flavor. Again, as all FB beers, very clean palate but lacks depth. Easy for being 10,5%.

I’m not sure I’d qualify this as a barleywine. Very little to no hop bitterness or kick from the malt. The vinous/grape must presence is strong, possibly a bit too much so. Pretty tart and dry finish. Overall not bad but not one of Funky Buddha’s better beers.

Pours a dark golden brown with fluffy head. Aromas of dark malts, hops, and light wine notes. Flavors of sweet malts, hops, and nice wine tail.

Pours red-amber with a thick off white head. Aroma is different - almost like a cherry sourness with some carob-malt background. Taste is kinda flat cherry sweetness with a little hoppy kick at the mid followed by some some vague wafer-like malts. I don’t get American or English barley wine outa this. Just simply not correct.

Bottle. Pours a dark ruby color with a small tan head and soft carbonation. Sort of a grape and wine aroma to this. Somewhat tart with some fig and plum notes. Medium bodied. Average for the style.
