4.8 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
Had on draft at the Funky Buddha.
Strong chocolate nose and flavor dominates this beer.
The smell and taste are on point. Out of all the chocolate beers this is one of my favorites that are available.
The only thing that I would change about this beer is add about this beer is the mouthfeel. While it is solid I would like more of a thicker consistency.
Overall one of my favorite Buddha Beers that have been released so far.
Serving type: on-tap

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
22oz, fresh off the truck from Hopscotch, thanks a ton! pours a nice dark brown black with a medium sized light brown head that fades fast. aroma and taste are insanely rich, smooth, creamy, silky notes of cocoa, marshmallow, light vanilla and caramel. a nice bitter balance exists for the huge amount of sweetness present. reminds me of surly four in many ways, nly other beer ive had with this fullness. overall a world class beer, very delicious. i hope i get to try this again one day!

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
This is by far one of my favorite beers of all time. I’m a sucker for good chocolate so that is a part of this scenario. Nib pours a very dark brown, nearly black. The aroma is a combination of dark cocoa nibs, sweet malts, with a hint of vanilla. The smoothness was perfect and the temperature also seemed to be perfect. (Had it at the Buddha on tap.) This is the perfect beer to drink after a big steak and potato dinner. The palate has a nice hint of chocolate for quite some time. Supperb!

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
32 oz. growler from hopscotch- thanks a ton, Eric! Pours an opaque brown color, basically black, with some tan bubbles around the edge. Crazy aroma of rich green peppers, cacao nibs, cocoa beans, coffee, wood, and earth. Flavor is all kinds of chocolate- cacao, cocoa beans, fudge- plus a little coffee and roasted malts. Medium-bodied, with a smooth, chocolaty mouthfeel and mild carbonation. So rich and decadent. Really a unique beer. Never heard of Brazilian nibs before this but they’re pretty wild.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
Draft… This beer rocks!… Pours very dark brown with a small, creamy, khaki head. The nose is jam-packed with chocolate, chocolate and more chocolate. I’ve never experienced this level of intense chocolate in the aroma of a beer treated only with cacao nibs. Medium-bodied with a skim-milk mouthfeel and busy carbonation. The flavor is moderately sweet and very chocolaty. Again, nibs, nibs, nibs, nothing but nibs! Finishes chocolaty and lightly sweet. Very refreshing, yet nourishing. Brazilian cacao is obviously “juiced” and probably illegal in the U.S., so drink it while they got it! World class brew!

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Dark brown to black with a thin slightly tan head. The aroma is all dark chocolate with hints of caramel and dark roast coffee. Medium bodied. The flavor is dry bakers chocolate with a hint of spice and coconut, very well balanced. I find that many chocolate beers are either overly sweet or lacking in the chocolate department, this one is right in the middle, good flavorful chocolate but dry and drinkable. Well done.
