We brewed this imperial stout to be big, bold and strong, like a bear-hugging Russian wrestler. A thick body using oats and lactose is complimented by plenty of complex chocolate, cocoa, and caramel undertones, before finishing on a balanced roasty note.

Bottle thanks to Homer. Pours clear black, small tan head, dissipates fairly slowly, good lacing. Aroma is roasty, ashtrays, anise, cocoa. Flavor is very light sweet, light plus bitter, roasty and a bit ashy. Medium light body, a bit watery, which is very surprising for a FB beer. Not a big fan.

Bottle. Thick dark brown pour with a creamy, permanent mocha head. Lots of bittersweet chocolate up front, slightly chalky, slight lactose and almost burnt malt. Moderate+ body and moderate carbonation, dry, slightly boozy.

Bottle. Pours nearly black with zero head. Mild coffee aroma with very little carbonation. Coffee and caramel flavor with nice dark chocolate bitter finish. A shade bit thin. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

22 oz. bottle, thanks to Chalumeaux for his number 1000th rating! Aroma is real nice. Aroma and flavor go hand-in-hand.

Flavor is cocoa, dry roast, sweet melted chocolate. Has a creamy lactose mouthfeel. Very nice texture. Body is fuller with a nice chewy hint from the oats. The hops are just over run by a sweetness over load. Nicely crafted but I am so happy that Clark pointed out the fact it was Brewer with lactose sugar, Good save man!

UPDATED: JUL 29, 2016 Bomber, undated, shared by TJ for his 1,000th rating on 7/24/16. Thanks and congrats, glad to be a part of this tasting group!
Tan head runs to the edges atop a dark mahogany body with high clarity.
Does not smell overdone. Lots of grape, prune, plum and dark chocolate. Hey, this has lactose in it. Has a strong grape element, with lots of grain and deep, dark chocolate. Rather weak nose, is my only real regret but there’s no alcohol or flaw, that’s for sure.
Rich chocolate and grape notes remind more of an English style Impy. Very pruney with cocoa, vanilla and lots of acidity on the end. Nice creamy thickness but not overly sweet. Very light lactic character to it with lingering prune and cacao. Some ashiness and lots of acidity. Pales in comparison to Wide Awake, but it’s still a very competent beer and not a sugar bomb.

[8146-20160416] Bottle. Sweet taffy-esque aroma. Brown cola body with a quick foamy off-white head. Sweet cola taffy and tangy woody soy-soaked burlap flavour. Full body. Average. (7/3/8/4/15) 3.7

Sample at HMOG. Decent beer. would love to run across a variant or two of this. Smooth chocolate malt dominant. A bit sweet on the finish.
