Pours dark brown, near black, with a big, creamy tan head.
Aroma of milk chocolate, dark chocolate, roasted malt, coffee, a hint of smoke in the background.
Sweetish taste, with hops and muscovado sugar up front, then milky chocolate and coffee. Light to medium bodied with a soft carbonation. Personally, I think this beer would be better with a bit more roasted malt character. That said, it is a really solid porter that I’d gladly drink more of given the chance.

Had yesterday at the brewpub. Review from notes. Received in a pint-like glass.
3.5 A: Black color. Came without a head, so no comment there.
4.0 S: Good balance between roastiness and sweetness. Strong coffee aroma with sweet dark caramel. Perhaps a touch of chocolate. Not too complex, but quite pleasant.
4.5 T: Like the nose - lots of coffee with ample amounts of sweet caramel giving this a velvety richness. Soft chocolate notes with perhaps a hint of smoke.
4.5 M: Heavier medium body. Good moderate carbonation. Wonderfully creamy. Great here.
4.5 D: A well made beer that is all around solid. Definitely the best beer I had out of the five I tried.

Draught, black with a lacing and brown head. Nose is dry, bitter roast and some chocolate. Thick and murky taste, strong coffee and roast, heavy chocolate in the style of Upland’s Bad Elmer (as JG astutely remarks). Light hops are actually contributing something! Love this sultry swirl of coffee and chocolate, with only light and lilting sweetness, my favorite of the sampler and easily worth the pint.

Poured from a mini growler. Pours a dark brown with a few bubbles. Has a chocolate and sort of maple syrup smell to it. Taste is similar with some roasted malt tones. Pretty solid.

Draft at brewer. Black pour with a tan head. Scent is roasted malt. Taste is same with some chocolate notes.

On tap at the Buddha. Dark brown pour with a mocha head. Roasted malt aromas. Dark roasted malt, coffee, and dark bitter chocolate flavors. Good stuff......

Poured a dark brown, with roasted malt, choclate, and sweet milk as the aromas. Flavors follow the aroma, with a nice chocolaty milk flavor in the middle, and a light sweetness at the end that made me wanting more.

Growler shared with Rustyham. Pours a dark brown with a two fingers tan head. Aroma of milk and dark chocolate. Medium bodied with a creamy mouthfeel. Flavor of dark roasted malts, milk chocolate, and nutty malts, but finishes hoppy. The bitterness is almost soapy, and distracting.

Deep brown to black, big eggshell head. Aroma is milk, sugar, creamy, chocolate and roast. Unfortunately, it quickly drops off into a soapy hoppiness, I am not too pleased with that, but it is a matter of 80% vs 20%. on tap at funky buddha

on tap-pours a tan head and black color. Aroma is roasty dark malt. Taste is roasty dark malt-molasses/cocoa/peat/some anise, secondary earthy hops.
