COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
From the Buddhist term meaning "bliss", our porter is brewed with lactose, a milk sugar, which rounds out the bitterness of the roasted malts. Still as roasty as a porter should be, but with a refreshing light sweetness.

Draught, black with a lacing and brown head. Nose is dry, bitter roast and some chocolate. Thick and murky taste, strong coffee and roast, heavy chocolate in the style of Upland’s Bad Elmer (as JG astutely remarks). Light hops are actually contributing something! Love this sultry swirl of coffee and chocolate, with only light and lilting sweetness, my favorite of the sampler and easily worth the pint.

On draft at Funky Buddha. Pours an opaque brown with a soapy white head. Nose is lactose, vanilla, chocolate, cafe con leche, earth, and hints of roast. Flavor is similar with earth, lactose, chocolate, cafe con leche and some some roast. An earthy, sweet porter- made awesome by the lactose character. Medium-bodied, finishing with lingering lactose.

Draft at Funky Buddha. Brown-black with a rusty beige head. Rich lactic tones, very much in the Caribbean style of Stout. Sweet and milky, a pretty solid example of the style. Rich, sugary chocolate and some faint sour milk notes. Well done.

Tap at Funky Buddha. It pours very dark brown, with a tan head. The nose is dark chocolate, roasted malt, rye bread and spice. The taste is roasted malt, charcoal, rye bread, bitter chocolate, spice, touch of lactose (but not as much as anticipated) and metal, with a dry, roasty finish. Medium body and fine, prickly carbonation. An ok porter, but below average in comparison to their other beers.

Funky Buddha mystery growler #1... Pours a darker cola-like pour, more dark brown in nature, and topped with a thin wispy soapy off-white head... Aroma is nutty in nature with a light roast with almost seems like a berry fruit bent. More fruity than I would expect from a porter... Flavors are a continuation of the same with nutty caramels upfront and a lighter fruity notes as well to go along with a moderate milk chocolate focus. thin to medium bodied leaning more towards the former.

4 oz sampler draft at the brewpub in Boca Raton, Florida. The pour is black brown, slight haze, and a small light tan head. The aroma is cocoa sweet, light char, and some molasses malt. The taste is a blend of cocoa sweet, molasses, and then finishes with the light roast. Nice balance of flavors. The palate is medium bodied, soft carbonation, and a clean dry mineral finish. Nice Porter.
