Hand bottle… Pours a cloudy, dark mahogany with a small, creamy, lightly tanned head. Decent retention. The bouquet delivers a hedonistic mélange of coconut, toasted pistachios and almonds, big-time white oak and light milk chocolate. Full-bodied with a velvety mouthfeel and soft carbonation. The flavor offers heaps of caramel, pecan pralines and coconut. Sweet, but not cloyingly so. Toffee and caramel finish with a kiss of rum. Draft at the Buddha grand opening. Pours a darkish red/brown. Nose is awesome with some definite coconut and very floral fruity notes. Really a neat smelling beer and the coconut really works with it. The rum and oak aging have really added to the body of this one making it feel like a porter almost. A very cool treatment on an already very good beer. Easily sessionable as well with the relatively low abv.

On tap at Buddha for the grand opening. A lot like the Red Dawn but with some subtle rum hints to it. I haven’t tried too many beers aged in rum barrels or on oak soaked in rum, but I really like the idea, and really enjoyed this beer.
