4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20 hopscotch (7535) - Vero Beach, USA - DEC 16, 2011
Draft… This beer rocks!… Pours dark brown (nearly black) with a small, creamy, khaki head. The aroma is absolutely amazing. It’s all about freshly crushed wild mint – hand picked and pungent – not like a stick of Wrigley’s gum or an After Eight thin mint. Nice chocolate nuance as well, although it takes a back seat to the wonderful wild mint component. Full-bodied and lightly creamy with moderate carbonation. The flavor offers loads of dark chocolate and freshly crushed mint picked right out of my childhood backyard in Overland Park, Kansas. Leans bitter. The high abv is not at all apparent. Finishes bittersweet and so very minty and chocolaty. I’ve tried at least a couple chocolate mint porters and such in the past, but none of those resemble this beauty. Unique and absolutely awesome!

Poured a dark brown color with a khaki head at the Funky Buddha. Aromas of fresh mint, licorice, and chocolate. Flavor is much the same with the mint and chocolate playing off of each other. After each sip i notice more of the earth mint flavors with a touch of licorice on the backside. Real nice christmas beer, and the 9.4% abv is hardly noticable, this is a dangerously delicious beer.

On draft at the Buddha for their special Thursday night releases. Dark brown color, murky and cloudy. Nice aroma of fresh mint and soft dark chocolate. Flavor is a mix between the mint, chocolate and slight roasted almonds. Very tasty to say the least. The ABV is masked especially well here. Great job!
