3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
My Bottom Line :
Portentous vanilla eventually leaves room for roasted malts and green hop bitterness in this fun, novelty Stout.
Further Personal Perceptions :
-A veil of foam skirts the pure blackness.
-That aroma is like dipping your nose into a sack full of vanilla pods. People who love intense vanilla will be in seventh heaven.
-This was not served with nitrogen; I wonder what effect nitrogen would have had on that explosive vanilla... Some beneficial muting? A cake-like mouthfeel?
-The flavor profile was not nearly as sweet as predicted by the vanilla perfume.
-Body is healthy, not too heavy, and quite drinkable if you are in the mood for a dessert brew.
On tap at the brewpub.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
On draft at the Funky Buddha, poured a dark black color with a thin khaki tan head. Aromas of chocolate and vanilla. Flavors of bitterswet chocolate morsals, milk chocolate, and a smide of vanilla. The vanilla was not overpowering and paired nicely with the chocolate flavors.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On draft at the Buddha. This is why I love walking into the Buddha on random occasions because I’ll notice something completely new I’ve never tried before. Such was the case today. Has a nice aroma of vanilla and soft chocolate. Flavor is semi sweet with a bitter chocolate cocoa vibe. Nothing outrageous but most definitely a tasty treat.
