COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

English: Barley Wine is often a name for the beer with highest alcohol level of the brewery. This is also the case with Barley Wine from Fur Bryghus. We have chosen to illustrate this rare type of beer with the picture of one of the rarest finds on Fur. A 30cm long skull from a giant turtle which was found in 1957 by the first leader of Fur Museum, Magne Breiner. It has been named after him "Eoasphargis Breneri". 3468 bottles of this Barley Wine has been made. Strong hop sensation with a vinous warmth and flavor of dark malt, caramel and anise.

Rating #413, bottle from some wine store, brought by Mads

A redbrown beer with standard head. Aroma is berries and red wine. Flavour is berries, red wine, a lot of wood, glucose and some alcohol. Creamy soft palate. Well, this barley wine is too sweet in my opinion, and another thing is that it does not hide the alcohol as well as other examples of the style.

Bottled. Deep ambery ruby colour, small beige head. Aroma is bready malts, sweet malts, alcohol and some fruityness. Flavour quite much the same. A bit of a mess of the aromas in the flavour, quite the same as in the aroma, but quite balanced "mess",

Pours a dark red, luminescent colour, with a light off-white collar of head. Very fruity and sweet, malty aroma. Lots of berries, grapes, honey, sugar, warming alcohol along with some light hints of hops. Taste of very sweet malts, fruits, berries, lemon, warming alcohol and a pleasantly balanced hop finish. Oily palate, large body, low-medium carbonation. Medium-long duration. Very nice.

Bottle shared by fonefan on 8/28/09: Transparent copper amber with a well-lacing froth of off-white head. Aroma of sweet sugary caramel malt and some light toffee and fruity notes. Starts with good fullness and sweet toasty caramel maltiness with a touch of piny bittering hops before a slightly drier toasty mildly warming finish. A fairly sweet barleywine with decent complexity.
