2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 Grovlam (4106) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - DEC 27, 2007
Bottle. Small fizzy white head that mostly diminished. Spare lacework. Light cloudy amber color. Aroma was light bread with notes of toasted malt, grain, caramel and light fruit. Over the palate it seams quit weak in the aroma. Light bodied with a somewhat thin texture and soft carbonation. Light sweet flavor with a hint of acidic. Light sweet finish.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 rickgordon (3758) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - DEC 20, 2007
Bottled.
Dark amber colour with big, frothy head. Malty, butterscotchy aroma with bit of toast. Bit astringent in mouthfeel with dry, harsh sourness. Low, yet detectable, bitterness for a US Brown Ale.

Bottle: Clear, amber coloured, mid-sized lacy off-white head, dark-malty, slightly fruity nose with a distinctive touch of roasted/smoked malt in the nose; moderate sweet-bitter flavour, medium bodied; drier malty-bitter finish. Unspectacular.......

Continuing the tradition of their excellent lager and good ale. Clean and balanced all the way to the finish. Not so Christmassy, but a good above strength ale.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 OKBeer (1168) - Halifax, Nova Scotia, CANADA - MAY 26, 2007
Rating #1000. 50 cl bottle courtesy fonefan, best before 13.07.07. First off, why a simple Christmas Brown Ale that isn’t highly rated for 1000? My ratebeer journey began 5 and a half years ago while searching for info on Norwegian Juleol. I have yet to track down on e of those, but Jan was kind enough to track this one down for me well past the Christmas season. So Scandinavian Christmas beer will suffice.
Dark mahogany colour with a fully lasting creamy and and frothy off-white head. Caramel, bread, light citrus fruit, and light cinnamon aroma. Light caramel, dark rye bread, caraway, and persimmon flavours with a dry, dark chocoalte, fruity, and nutty bitter and light alcohol finish. As it warms, develops some banana bread character. Full bodied, rich mouthfeel. Like an overspiced dark fruit cake soaked in a bit too much rum. Not exactly to my personal tastes, but a contemplative and interesting beer. And for this milestone, I’m happy with my choice.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Enjoyit (2721) - Vadum, DENMARK - MAY 7, 2007
Deep amber of color with a creamy beige head. An aroma of caramel, smoke, spice and sweet malt. A flavor of caramel and hints of smoke. Round and smoothy.
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 Maria (7805) - Thisted, DENMARK - APR 1, 2007
This mahogany red beer has a moderate head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt/caramel and a hint of smoke. I find the same notes in the flavour, that also has a brief hint of licorice. The finish is harsh/bitter in an offensive way, and it gets worse if it’s not cold.
