COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Humlen tilsættes af to omgange.

English: Fur Porter is a top fermented beer of the Imperial Stout style. Dark mahogany color with a nut brown head which has a long durability and leaves nice lacings on the glass. Nice aroma of smoked malt and English licorice. Full malty flavor with an extra note of smoked malt and English licorice which ends in a fresh finish, even for this style. English inspired porter brewed with five different types of malt - smoked, caramel and chocolate malts amongst others - and two types of hops where one of them gives the beer its fresh note. The hops are added in two stages.

Fur Porter has a nice malty and full body with hints of minerals from the unfiltrered water of the island of Fur in Denmark. Is also has, except from the taste of chocolate, a taste like tobacco, but in a good way like old pipe tobacco. This is maybe because that the water used to brewing the beer has been naturally filtered through volcano layers on fur in milleniums? The Beer is quite dry which is great, but it could use a little more roastyness. It still really makes you want one more sip, though.

Almost no head on a black body. Nice liquorice aroma, standard porter taste, pretty well made but unremarkable. A newcomer that deserve improvement.

Black, beige tall lasting head. Mild aroma. Yeast. Licorice. Lactic? Mild flavour dominated by licorice. Some underlying sweetness. Some sourish notes too? Watery palate. Boring porter, a bit out of balance. Disappointing or just infected?!

50 cl bottle; Pitch black with light brown head, without much retention. Wonderful aroma of roast and citrussy hops (cascade?). Flavor is roasted and smoky. Mouthfeel is maybe a bit light for a beer at this strength - but still a very good beer - the best yet from Fur.

Jaksmart (357) - Aalborg, DENMARK - MAY 23, 2010
Dark brown colour with a light, frothy tanned head. Aroma of roasted malt, some smoke, liquerice, chocolate, dark fruits and some faint berries. Taste is also of roasted malts, liquerice, chocolate, coffee and some sugar. Medium-large body, medium carbonation, medium-long duration. Not hugely challenging, but very pleasant, tasty and quite easy to drink.

Black with almost no head. Nice aroma with a hint of liquorice. Taste has notes of liquorice and malt. Good but fast disapearing aftertast.

I had this a couple of years ago, and I found it quite uninspired. I have to say that I still feel that way. Very sweet and smooth with a solid taste of liquerice - I prefere something more bitter and burned. Not bad as such though.

UPDATED: JUN 1, 2006 Draught at KØ 2006. I tried this before and wasn’t impressed, but then Furseth told me that the recipe has been changed. Slightly smokey licorice smell. Clean taste wiht medium body. Short, clean aftertaste. Good but not impressive at all.

Bottle 50 cl @ 14C. Weak aroma compared to Limfjordsporter. Okay flavour of roasted malts and liquerice. Low carbonation.

Smokey and roasted aroma (almost like a rauchbier). Pitch-black with light-brown head. Smokey and roasted flavour. Light body for a beer this flavoursome with a slight metallic mouth feel and some faint liquorice in the aftertaste. An ok. beer but far from the best porter I have had.
