COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

English: Fur Steam Beer is a bottom fermented beer of the Steam Beer style. Clear beer with a strong amber golden color. Full creme colored head with a long durability which leaves nice lacings on the glass. Warm and vinous aroma with a nice experience of hops. Strong and warm flavor of dark malt with its full harmonious finish from the hops. Fur Steam Beer is brewed with 3 different types of malt where caramel malt is one of them. Fur Steam Beer contains both classic bitter and aroma hops which gives its nice aroma and well balanced finish to the flavor. Fur Steam Beer gets a very gentle filtration before bottling and pasteurising which is one of the important prerequisites to keep the nice and complex aroma pattern in the beer.

Dark coppery colored with medium sized yellow head. Berry and chocolaty aroma with with some sourness and bockish notes and alcohol also present, rather strong for steam beer. Medium bodied. Flavor is even more bockish with nuts and chocolate, some doppelbockish notes here definitely. Aftertaste turns to dry with some cardboard and sweet caramel.

The last of the three beers that my enabler brought back to me from Denmark. Poured a beautiful amber-reddish colour, with nice off-white creamy head. Pleasant aroma. Taste was disappointing at first. A little bitter and not as complex as I would have liked, but the taste grew on me as I drank it, getting sweeter with every sip. I quite liked this one.

Ungstrup (22906) - Oamaru, NEW ZEALAND - NOV 29, 2007
Bottled. A red-amber beer with a nice orange head. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of fruit, straw, caramel, and metal. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of alcohol, metal, fruit, and caramel, leading to a dry bitter finish, where the alcohol note carries thru and lingers for a long time. Too strong for a Steam Beer - and too simple thus making the alcohol more pronounced.

Comments: Easily drinkable, sweetish, simplistic caramelly ale with a vague tropical fruitiness. It seems beyond belief that this can be almost 8%.
