COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Made with McIntosh and Northern Spy apples. Johnny Mash has delicious oaky notes that meld magically with apple fruit on the palate. Slowly aged in American oak. Johnny Mash is a true patriot. For more information on this award-winning cider, visit: www.johnnymash.com Cider pairs superbly with fish, poultry, and pork. Not only can cider be substituted for white wine in almost any recipe , but it lends an incomparable and unique flavor to dishes. Also excellent as a tenderizer or marinade. Good cheeses for cider are Smoked Gouda, Cheddar, and Jarlsberg.

12 oz bottle. Pours a clear mod carbonation with no head-. Aroma is apple, but green almost astringent and acetaldehyde coming through- solvent and prickly, some sweet apple must, oak, vanilla and earthy leather tones come through as well. Flavor is more acet, green apple, leather, moderate sweetness, a touch too sweet in the middle, moderate acid levels, light vanilla, some oak, phenol, slight apple pie spice, sharp and abrasive acid in the end- seems fake and overly sweet at times- strange.

In short: An apple strudel made with Granny Smith apples
How: Bottle 12oz. Has been in my cellar for a while. One year old? Sent to me as a bonus by someone? Thanks… someone.
The look: Clear dark yellow with no head to speak of
In long: Nose of apple strudel. Taste of apple strudel with bubbles. There’s a crispy sweetness in there that really reminds me of bakery crust and the apple taste is really like baked Granny Smith apples. That’s not the type of apples they mention in the description but this is what it tasted like to me. None of the annoying acidity that I get from many cheap bottled carbonated ciders. A little sweeter than the competition. Appropriate medium carbonation. I love ice-ciders and I usually don’t care for any of those cheap carbonated low abv ciders sold in 12oz bottles. Did I enjoy this one? I am unambiguously and firmly indecisive.
