Bottle. Sweet, a little bit of coke, malty. A small off-white creamy head, black body. Quite bitter start and finish with a medium duration. A dry and light creamy texture with a soft carbonation and a medium body. A good sour Dunkel.

@brewpub. It’s mahogany red with a creamy head. The aroma has light notes of butter, syrup and caramel. The flavor has a light sweetness and notes of syrup, caramel, a little licorice and the finish is slightly dry - it’s a nice dunkel.

500ml bottle (OPP, Helsinki. German Weeks 2009)
Strong oxtail soup aroma. Deep ruby, small head. Pleasant carbonation, refreshing body with cocao retronasals. Pleasant weet fruity esters, plenty of roast malt, some toasty burnt corners. Quite simple, but so tasty. More chocolate as it warms.

Bottled@One Pint Pub, Helsinki. Coca cola like colour (brownish amber, close to black) with small off-white head. Aroma is mild toasted notes, some dark fruits, mild herbal notes as well as some grass. Flavour is caramel malts, rather sweet, some fudge as well as some fruits, wood and grassy notes.

Bottle (purchased at the Brauerei): Clear, chestnut-amber coloured, slowly collapsing "dirty" foam; sweetish caramelly nose with a good dash of roasted malt and a faint tinge of hops; moderate sweet-bitter flavour, light to medium bodied; almost lingering, not so sweet caramelly-bitter finish. Unspectacular, but nevertheless pleasant Dunkel............

(bottle, as Zum Schwarzen Roß Dunkel, with thanks to Don Michele !) Clear, mahogany colour with a mid-sized tanned foamy head. Sweet toast-malty nose with caramel, cacao and a light touch of dried fruits. Burnt bitterness in the flavour, earthy and leafy, solid toasted malty taste with caramel. Quite dry roasty bitter and slightly hoppy finish. Not an overwhelming but likeable Dunkel.
