500ml bottle. Clear orangey, dark golden colour with average, firm, frothy to creamy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Grainy aroma, a spicy touch of husk. Taste is grainy, chalky. Expressionless and boring.

Bottle. Golden, small to average and fully diminishing head. Moderate malty - lightly grainy and lightly sweetish aroma, faint grassy - herbal hoppyness. Medium, malty - lightly grainy and lightly sweetish flavor, light hoppyness. Finish is short to average, malty - grainy and lightly sweetish, light metal and light grassy hoppyness and light alcohol. Lightly sweetish and grainy helles with light notes of metal in the finish. Nothing special - lacks character.

Bottle looks good but a bit complex. Beer in the glass zippy, almost no head. Starts malty-spicy, quite metallically. Finish soapy and dry, unbalanced. Not good.

500ml bottle (OPP, Helsinki. German Weeks 2009)
Mustard and mushrooms aroma. Pleasant carbonation. More mustard in the retronasals too. Taste quite big - some bitter hops and a touch of alcohol. Sounds worse than it was perhaps, but maybe my points are charitable. I’d not rush to have this again.

(bottle) Clear, golden colour with a mid-sized, non-persistent frothy white head. Sweet, cara-malty nose with a touch of biscuits and shy hoppy notes. Sweet flavour with a light touch of bitterness, medium to light bodied with a soft carbonation. Malt-accented taste with light notes of cara-malt and biscuits; solid malty and quite hearty finish with a delicate hops-character. Likeable Export (06.08.08).

Bottle (purchased at the Brauerei): Golden to deep golden, smaller, slowly collapsing off-white head; solid sweet-grainy nose; medium bodied, moderate to robust sweetish, only faint bitter flavour; almost a tinge of alcohol in the mainly sweet-grainy, slightly tart and bitter finish. Quite well rounded, chewy Helles........
