The Fürstenberg Premium Pilsner, one of only a handful of "Premium" designated premium beers in Germany and long thought to be the first German Pilsner brewed in accordance to the Czech Pilsner method has an alcohol % of 4.8. Water is actually taken from the source of the Danube river deep in the Black Forest!

500ml can. Pale yellow, tace of white surface bubbles. Bread like malt in the aroma. Slight malt note, herbal grassy hop flavours. Light bitter finish with some malt and grassy hop aftertaste. Medium body, fine, even carbonation.

500 ml can. The pour reveals a clear pale gold color with a thick dimisnishing frothy white head. Aroma of perfumey hops with crisp malt. In the mouth the crisp malt is present and accompanied by some shy noble hops, there is also some citrus and sweetness in the finish. The body has a medium thickness while the texture is creamy and the carbonation is moderate. Interesting but the hops feel a bit too weak.

33cl bottle: not much of a pilsner. Taste like mineral water with hops thrown in.

Draught. Clear golden colour. Nice big head, creamy, stable, white. Rather high bitterness, uncompromising, but pleasant

UPDATED: MAY 18, 2012 Bottle. Clear pale yellow pour, stable white head. Sweet malty nose, overly so, and no hops. Thin (watery) and tastes of malt with a touch of bitterness. Too simple. [2.3]

Re-rate six years later, tap in Donaueschingen: Super pale yellow body with a creamy white head, light watery body, it is mildly herb but barely bitter. Better than the bottled version I remember, but almost like they’re purposely watering everything down at the Bräustüble. [2.6]

500 mL can from Bieropholie. BB 05/2006. Golden lager with a thick white head. Liht crisp malt aroma, with a german hop signature, and mineral notes. Good crisp malt and sharp clean hop bitterness, medium body, makes this a perfect quaffer for a 40C day like today (31/05/06).

Pale yellow, thick white head with modest retention. Grainy and grassy aromas. Considerable hop character with a crisp bitter finish. A good example of the style, although not among the best.
