COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Fürstenberg Premium Pilsner, one of only a handful of "Premium" designated premium beers in Germany and long thought to be the first German Pilsner brewed in accordance to the Czech Pilsner method has an alcohol % of 4.8. Water is actually taken from the source of the Danube river deep in the Black Forest!

Canette, avant 09/2007. Arome de céréale et de houblon. Couleur jaune clair, col de mousse épais, qui s’estompe vite. Goût de malt faible, houblon puissant en arrière goût. Carbonatation forte, corps moyen-faible.

50 cL bottle. Pours yellow with huge white head. Aroma is pilsener malt. Aroma adds hops in a strange way: not really bitter and not really fruity. Label states that aroma hops extract has been added. It completely lacks sweetness and is rather dry, interesting experience - but not something I would return to.

Canette de demi litre. Jaune claire typique et pétillent, moyen colle blanche neige. Arome de malte commercial ordinaire et pas mal sec. Goût sucré bizzard, mieux bu froide.

Can from beer store: Pours typical sparkling champagne yellow, with tiny bubled white fizz. Some lace. Fresh subtle leafy hop aroma, with a floral backbone, wrapped up with sugary malts. Tastes like it is fairly fresh. Floral hops and some sweet brown sugar malts, and mild biscuit/bread. FInishes with a czech style hoppy aftertaste. Assertive carbonation prickles the palate.

Can from the Beer Store. Light golden-yellow colour with a good sized white head that leaves a lot of nice lacing. Aroma is pretty decent, quite herbal and husky. Body is thin but adequate. Flavour is alright, quite well-balanced with fresh malts, herbal hops and a bit of lemon in the finish. Not spectacular, but it gets the job done.

Clear pale-straw body with a short lived large rocky white head with very good lacing. Looks ok. Aroma is a bit skunky and that can’t be because of light exposition or bottle conditioning since it came from a 500ml can. Taste is also disappointing. Cereals oil and mushrooms mouthfeel/flavour, limited hops presence. Neither crisp nor refreshing. Sometimes I see boring macros try to imitate German Pilsner and they always fail, now we have German Pilsner trying to imitate a boring macro and unfortunately it succeeds.

Biggish offwhite shiny head over golden body with carbonation. Light clean sweetish caramel and marzipan aroma with apple notes. Taste is sweetish apple and grain with faintly dry and chalky aftertaste. It’s decent, but a bit thin and chalky, and could do with more aroma hops and general complexity. Not bad, though. (0.33l bottle.)

Can.500ml Pours pale gold with medium-large creamy white top, good lacing. (4- ) Dry aromatic nose, mineral touch with light pale malt character. Medium bodied front, thinner at finish. Initially you won’t see that this beer is a bit shallow. Good malt-hop work you will think and then all this go away leaving watery forgettable memories.

[Bottle from Alexander shared with neighbor, Erik] A commercial pilsener with a grassy and a metallic taste. Not that good. Boring!

Can: Poured a pale yellow color pils with a big bubbly white head with average retention. Aroma of grassy malt is pleasant but a bit weak overall. Taste of semi-sweet malt with low hops level makes this beer rather boring. I’m not even sure if this is a pilsner by name only as it tends to taste and smells like a pale lager to me.
