The Fürstenberg Premium Pilsner, one of only a handful of "Premium" designated premium beers in Germany and long thought to be the first German Pilsner brewed in accordance to the Czech Pilsner method has an alcohol % of 4.8. Water is actually taken from the source of the Danube river deep in the Black Forest!

*Old rating, best before 09/2011. Schön frisch-herbes, trockenes Bier. Feinherb im Nachgeschmack, würzig mit trockenem süffigem Körper.

I didn’t like this stuff quite as much as my buddy Tiki below, but I do like the finish. Overall it’s pretty much just pale grain and....pale grain. But at the risk of degenerating into ambiguous macro taglines, this stuff has a nice clean taste to it - like it’s brewed with Rocky Mountain spring water. And the vented can is a great bonus!....ahem. Anyway, this stuff is aight for a generic pils. I wouldn’t brag about it to my friends, but I wouldn’t kick it out of bed either.

I’ve been dreaming of the possibilities of pilsners lately. I love to start the session off with something intense (imp stout in the dark months; hop bombs or saisons in the bright months) & the end the session with crisp lower booze brews & I think a pilsner would fit the slot nicely. Except I’m having trouble finding the pilsner of my dreams. This one pours nice, with a cap that sustains throughout the entire drink (a rare sight that should warrant higher appearance scores below my review) & a groovy, almost flowery finish. The crispness could be ramped up. Pretty decent.

Pale yellow, thick white head; this disappointed - a thin pils with less bite and flavour than one would expect.

Pours a light straw with a moderate white top. Aroma is light straw and cereal malts. Taste is light grains and a small hop bitterness in the end. Solid German Pils.
