COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
My goal in building the recipe for Fallen Apple was to create a seasonal specialty that was in and of itself a celebration. I start with fresh-pressed cider from early harvest apples we get from Kickapoo Orchards in Gays Mills. Fermentation leaves the cider tart and champagne-like. I then brew a cream ale designed to put some sweetness and body back into the beer, which rounds out the sour apple notes. This combination of ethereal apple flavor grounded in an “everyman’s” beer makes for a festive and potent brew.

Bottle. Aroma of spiced apples, grain and like JK and Skyview, it smelled like hair product. Pours an attractive copper/amber. Flavor is mostly grainy with a hint of tart Granny Smith apple on the finish. Medium bodied with good carbonation.

Bottle pours gold with a white head. Aroma is sweet and tart with notes of apple cider, earth, and the slightest hint of vanilla. Flavor shows the same with a light toffee/bread malt underneath. Overall body is light and soft with a slightly tart finish.

Bottle. Poured into a tulip glass a clear golden color with a white collared head. It honestly looks like apple juice. Sweet apple cider aroma in the nose with little else, maybe some slight spice. Sweet apple flavor upfront wtih some tartness, some cherry flavors as well. This beer is pretty sweet but it’s decent for a fruit beer. Having had New Glarus Unplugged Apple Ale today, I would say this is an ok substitute but not as good as teh NG. Medium/light mouthfeel.

Thanks to Ricky Bobby’s owner for the taste. Somehow, I remember your dog’s name, but not yours. Pours a light grain color. Aroma is strong grain and sweet apple concentrate. Flavor is more of the same. Strong grain and euro hops with a concentrated apple juice flavor added. Fun beer to try. Thanks!

Pours a clear golden color with thin off white head. Aroma is of light floral hops, apple and roasted grains. Taste is much the same with the apple becoming a bit upfront, but never over the top. Finishes pretty easy.

This beer is really pretty decent, but still nothing much to it. I like some more complexity.

Not as bad as I had heard it was going to be. Pour was medium golden with a small off-white head. Aroma decorated with bitter apples, light cinnamon, maybe some nutmeg, and floral characters. The flavor was well blended and mellow. Again bitter apples accompanied the cream ale itself which seemed to work well together. There seemed to be a bit too much carbonation but overall it wasn’t so bad. Could use some more spice overall for my own liking. Maybe worth a purchase but not a second.

Not a bad apple beer, but not a very good cream ale. But the drinking experience was decently pleasant, so where all this nets out in my mind is with a pretty average rating, but should earn extra consideration from those looking for something unique and different to try. It poured a pretty dark caramel color, with decent white head formation. Aroma was definitely apple...and cidery, with some caramel maltiness under it all. Flavor was rather caramel-y up front which I didn’t find particular appropriate for a cream ale but tasted pretty good. The apple character was notable but not overpowering. In the taste (versus the smell) aroma was less like cider and more like bitter apple. Mouthfeel was pretty unremarkable. Not bad. I’d weakly recommend it.

Bottle pours clear amber with very little head or lace. The aroma is of dry white wine. The flavor is a strange blend of a sour apple fruit ale, with a disjoint lingering malt note that does not flow together well. The palate is rather sritzy and somewhat refreshing. Overall, this one is not great.

Orange color. Smell of malt, Granny Smith apples, spices and a hint of caramel. Taste of apples, malt, bread, spices and flowers. Acidic and dry.
